Know its not a Blackwing.

But...

Holy fucking shit balls...

Now I know why the Blackwing twin turbo V8 died. It's because this monster screeching bald eagle ate it while it was trying to leave the nest.

What a fucking slap to face to the Germans. They've supposedly mastered the twin turbo V8 and had to resort to electrification and this LT7 leaves mushroom stamps all over them.

America, Fuck Yeah

They should have revealed this on July 4th with a Blue Angels fly over.
It's insane and awesome that GM is basically the last man standing building all-new, bat shit crazy engines that aren't completely unobtaniam.

Yeah Buggati and Ferrari are too, but Ford/BMW/Audi/Porsche are all seemingly stuck on existing architectures and adding electric boost to stuff.

It is pretty funny that the new M5 added an ungodly heavy PHEV system to a twin-turbo V8 to get to 717hp, and then this comes out making 1,064 with no hybrid assist at all. And with a flat plane crank and revving to 8k!

Exactly how Throttle House described it.....A BIG MIDDLE FINGER FROM THE AMERICANS!

Maybe this sample will end up as a future "my LT4 has a blown motor". If I'm reading the ODO correctly, this car has 10 miles on it and the dealership lets this clown take it out and near redline it? WTF, I feel bad for the car.

Caddy did well there. Against the xDrive, it is a definite loss. I timed my 2022 M4 Comp xD at 3.0 seconds to 60 with my 16 year old son in the car. I am also in a huge minority of really liking how the car looks. Interior was super duper (before the screen, of course). But in the end, as I have posted, it was a bland experience overall. Rocket ship acceleration, especially off the line, but after that... sterile. Cornering in that car, in and out, is nowhere near as intuitive as the Blackwing. The CT5-V Blackwing 6MT is a 10/10 on driving engagement and "fun to drive". I would rate that BMW I had as a 6/10. I daily an HD truck, so when I hop in a car, it is primarily for my enjoyment. Manual shifting supercharged V8 for me :_rock

Close race, but while that slotted the CT5 in at #13 on the U-drag leaderboard, I was shocked at #12 on the list🤯

BMW underated that M4 massively....that's not a 170 HP difference....M4s have dynoed 517 to 525 at the wheels stock
1000%. That motor is awesome. Unfortunate that BMW ruins the sound with their electronic enhancement. Honest to God, that was the single worst aspect of that car - the dreadful exhaust sound. Tolerable with the "mode" disabled, I could not stand it "enhanced".

In addition to the buckteeth on the front of the car, I also don't like the ugly gauge cluster, personally. Wouldn't be a deal breaker if I loved the rest of the car, but it's a negative in my opinion. FWIW, my Ford Bronco has perhaps the single worst gauge cluster I've ever seen, even worse than the new BMWs.

I think Cadillac did a really nice job with the digital gauge choices they implemented. As a fan of simple analog gauges (especially old Hondas I have owned), I was skeptical of the digital approach, but I like what I have in my 5BW.

I'm a fan of the classic analog, round BMW gauges, with the simple orange at night. Here's an old photo, complete with mandatory BMW CEL. (Note: The car was stationary, pay no attention to the mph, this was going through menus in the aftermarket tuner.)

On the subject of BMW interiors... I bought my old 2009 BMW 335i used, so the previous owner made this interior choice. He called it "porn star red leather, with brushed aluminum"). Probably wouldn't have been my choice, but I did grow to really like it. Fantastic ergonomics in that car, it it was very comfortable, perfect driving position.

100%. Overall, the BMW cabin is fantastic. But the driver display gauges and steering wheel are vastly better in the Caddy. These two attributes go along with the fantastic driving experience in the Cadillac. When I had my M4, I was constantly fiddling with the infotainment and display screens. In the Blackwing, I just drive.

ooh, this could be interesting. Bets on if ford uses a ecoboost, V6 or a V8?

CT4 V Blackwing Vs Mustang Mach 4 comparison will be interesting. Maybe if Ford stuffs the 5.0 NA Coyote into a 6 speed manual sedan, GM is going to have to respond.

I’m selling my blackwing if it’s a v8 manual. Unless it’s priced like a ct5 v blackwing.

I've got an e90 M3 with that interior color (but with the wood, not aluminum accents.) I too vastly prefer the ergonomics to the recent BMWs (we also have a pre mid-cycle update twin-turbo V8 X5 and I didn't realize how much I liked it until I rented the refreshed big screen X5 a couple of weeks ago at ATL airport.)

It would be great if this pushed Cadillac to do a refresh/update on the 4BW.

Such as a small block v8 heritage special edition for instance? I'm fine with mine as is...just sayin...

I checked out the drive site articles (speculations?) on this...including the comments....seem none of these Ford fanboys has ever heard of a Blackwing...let alone a Cadillac. Their loss...

Well I think Ford has a pretty good opportunity on their hands if they can capitalize on it.

They already have a 5.0 V8, 10speed auto and 2 6 speed manual transmissions in the Mustang. Though options can jack up the price, the Mustang V8 still starts at 45k.

If they can design an edgy new 4 door body but share many of the parts, they might be able to start the Mach 4 at not much more than that 45k starting price. Since its also branded a Mustang, they can share large portions of the dash and interior, headlamps, tail lights without being called out on it.

At that point, magazine comparison darlings like the Civic Type R and GR Corolla come into jeopardy.

The only 3 manual transmission sedans on the market are the 2 blackwings and the M3. All of which are luxury brand products. The only V8 manual sedan is the 5BW, which is going to now start close to 100k.

This is the the car that enthusiasts have been asking for, a sporty manual V8 sedan without a luxury make price tag.

GM has done it in the past, but always went halfway with it. Importing the Holdens from Australia, or doing the CTS Vs with Cadillac. But they never really made a Camaro sedan even though all the ingredients were there.

If this Mustang sedan comes out with the Coyote V8, 6 speed manual and a sub 50K price tag, and it sells, then I hope the GM executives that never greenlit a Camaro sedan get a good look of what could have been.
