Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Blendmount + mirrortap for my radar detector.

I hit 10,000 miles after 15 months as a daily driver.

I did my 500 mile oil change, oil came out pretty dark so I’m pretty glad I went ahead and did it.

One tip for anyone out there doing their own first oil change, the oil filter setup is pretty wonky, right next to the exhaust and with a tough access point.

You’ll want some sort of oil filter tool, I had to torque the shit out of mine with a wrench, easily the hardest I’ve ever had to torque an oil filter, to the point where the structure of the oil filter almost completely gave way.

Got her done though.

I had the same issue with my first oil change on my '25. Couldn't believe how tight it was on from the factory!

I was shocked. I used to work at a garage back in school and I'd never run into anything like it. I don't think they oiled the o-ring and when it was sitting out on the factory lot it must have bonded. I was one or two failures away from hammering a screwdriver through it.

Any reason you didn't let the dealer do the first change? If it's included I let them do the first one, since the filter is always tight.

Weird, I just removed mine by hand. I did the first change (and all the changes) My engine was built by a woman so maybe she had a gentler touch. Maybe your engine was built by a body builder.

Blend mount and wire tap

Going to take out the center link to get it even closer to the mirror
Have you tested it yet? With the Blendmount and R4, I'm having GPS sync issues. I just ordered an additional link to get it closer to the windshield.

The answer to that is self evident if you knew my dealer. The lower the complexity of the job the less competent the worker. Nobody touches my car if I can do the job myself. I’m the only one that cares more than anyone else about the quality of work and doing it properly.

Absolutely. The only time my car goes to the dealer is for warranty or recall work.

I took advantage of some bad weather to get the stock tires replaced with Michelin PS AS4 tires and installed them. I was disappointed by how much dirt there was on the threads from the factory. I spent much more time cleaning the threads with a dental pick and a wire wheel than it took to mount and torque the wheels. But it was worth it as the nuts tightened smoothly and I can be sure the torque values are correct.

Assuming the AS4s are as good as claimed in the reports and comparison tests I've seen, I will never reinstall the original PS4s unless I have to sell the car - they have too much cornering traction for fun in the twisties at speeds I'm willing to use. I hope the AS4s will lower the traction limit by at least 10 km/hr. Fifteen would be ideal. (On most corners with a 50 km/hr advisory speed I don't get to the traction limit at 120, and that's my absolute speed limit in the twisties. Where I drive for twisty fun the majority of the corners with advisory speeds are 60, and those corners are boring at 120.)

I'm not interested in the hassle of trying to sell tires that are a fairly rare pair of sizes. If someone wants them for their 4BW, you can have them for free. 5000 km on them. Pick up only - central Vancouver Island. Use the Direct Message function.

Drove the Blackwing last night, instruments said 33 psi on right rear.

Checked it this AM, was 29 psi. Lifted the rear with the floor jack and right at the 12'oclock position was a naid imbedded flush with the second tread rib. Fortunately not the side wall.

So, off to Discount Tire comorrow. Drove it a couple miles and at least for that distance, it held pressure. Can take a can of sealant with me if the leak gets worse. Don
