I was just reading up on a civic type r break in. 600 miles and let it soar. Funny how they try to pin it on you for the 1500 miles period. Heard 1500 miles is more for diff than engine.

The exact wording in the owners manual is "recommended" not required fwiw - I looked it up. Someone else on the forum also pointed out previously that at exactly 501 miles on the odometer the engine redline on the dash changes from 4k to normal. Why program it at exactly 501 miles versus 1501 if that is truly a concern?

For the million + problems we have in this world, included for me is giving these careless, lazy auto workers raises. These people can't snap together pieces of plastic. I don't care about inflation and cost of living. Raises should be merit based. But these people got them, and yet quality gets worse and worse. Shawn Fain cries about the billionaires, I will wager most of them did not get to where they are being complacent at their jobs. Before one of you replies defending how great auto workers are, yes, maybe there are some good ones. But the delivery quality of an average American vehicle sucks. The person who installed your plug should be fired. Plain and simple.

Funny enough - the Service Advisor and Service Manager had no idea the engine is "hand built" by a single person and their name is proudly displayed on the top of the engine plaque. I politely asked they forward their findings about the issue back to the engine builder/their management in Bowling Green at the PBC and they laughed and told me there was no way to know who that would have been.

I get that mechanical things break, etc. What has frustrated me the most of all of this is how poorly the entire dealership and (escalated to) regional management responded to the issue. I didn't post anything for a few weeks to give them the time to resolve the issue. I'm sharing now so that others are aware. This is my 2nd brand new Cadillac V series/Blackwing vehicle purchase and I'm floored this is how they choose to treat ANY customer - let alone somebody who just spent 130k and waited 2+ years in the goat rodeo. I did get my GM CT5 "quality" survey yesterday via email, which is timely.

In full disclosure I purchased the vehicle from a different dealership than the servicing dealership. My salesperson was quick to respond to my concerns when this happened but apparently at Cadillac/GM only the servicing dealership has any visibilty or influence to escalate a service case.

Officially, once they deemed it a valid warranty repair they told me the oil pan needs replaced which is a 25 shop hour service procedure. They have not been able to source the oil pan so they are exploring other options now. I'm considering what things GM can do to restore my trust in their build quality and post sales service such as extending my powertrain warranty, etc.

I did not specifically mean fire the person on your engine plaque, unless that is the person who also incorrectly inserted the plug. GM would know exactly what day that car was produced, and who was on the line. I doubt they do a thing about it. The MSRPs are so padded with profit, they just eat these mishaps.

Apparently they have to remove the exhaust, headers and who knows what else to swap the oil pan out. I was never provided a written estimate when I strongly pushed back on paying nearly $7k to fix a car with 600 miles on the odometer. I thought the Service Manager was joking at first.

I haven't been allowed to see it myself at the dealership - but from what I understand its a metal plug inside the circled area that is used during manufacturing and it should never come apart. GM Part 12707561 is the prior version of the oil pan used in earlier LT4 engines. The Service Tech said he compared my oil pan to another vehicle with an LT4 and found the sealant and plug on mine showed it likely was not seated completely into the recessed area.

12707563 was what I found for the 2022.

I took another run at searching for LT4 oil pan images and found 12732265:

Looking at the top down view (without the windage tray) it might be needed to machine an oil pump passage.

I’d hazard to guess the oil pan comes from a supplier as completed assembly. I highly doubt someone on the GM line or on the engine build team is pressing a plug into a casting.

They better spend a few more hours cleaning out the engine bay. There's got to be oil all over everything. I wouldn't accept it back without it looking as pristine as the day you took delivery.

Guess I’m part of this here rodeo now too. I opted to go for one that was already being advertised as in transit online. Put down the deposit and got the build sheet. Can anyone shed any light on this? Dealer says it should arrive by the end of the quarter.

Congrats on snagging a BW and joining the GOAT rodeo. Share some details on what options you are getting.

Nothing out of the ordinary - it seems to take 4-6 weeks after production for them to finally ship.

I got: ‘25 5BW, Deep Space Metallic, 6MT, graphite wheels with blue calipers (only thing I would have changed had I put in a custom order but was too late) CF 1/2, v8v (precision), carbon backed seats in Sky Cool Gray, sunroof(personal preference), PDR, parking package, alcantara accents, black lugs mirror caps and name plates, red seat belts. Pretty much the dream spec for me.

Nice find! DSM is a great choice. It would have been my first choice if it was a bit more blue instead of grey, Other than the sunroof (not my preference), it sounds like you snagged a build I would have been very happy to live with.
