Newbie questions..trade a M4 for 2025 CT5-V Blackwing

I can't really address any of the questions any better than anyone else has, but I will echo @668LT4's comments - I came from a G82 M4 properly equipped with 3 pedals, and never once ever even for a moment regretted the move to the Blackwing (also properly equipped).

Best of luck to you!
If I am being honest, I LOVED the look of my M4. I do miss that, and that it was a coupe. I know most thought it was fugly, but not me. And the interior, so damn nice. Premium materials everywhere, excellent assembly. But aside from the 3 seconds of bliss from a standstill, it just did not resonate with me. I spent more time with the drive controller going through all the menus and settings than I did just "driving" the car.

That’s good to know. I’m coming from the same.

Here is a picture of mine. I probably have 15k of bmw carbon parts and the bmw quad performance exhaust that I will never get me money back from the trade.

Unrelated question. Do you think your trade in value considers upgrades or option packages? If you get a Blackwing with 12k of the two carbon fiber packages if you trade it later will they use your vin to come up with a value or just year and mileage so you get nothing for the carbon?

I don't think the pricey options pay back.

I would remove as much of the carbon as you could and replace with standard plastic pieces. Sell the carbon parts on the BMW forum.

PS, I sure miss my carbon fiber roof. Love that the car included it stock.

So to those who went from a M3/M4 what do you like best about the black wing ?

Torque, amazing manual, V8 sound, comfort, looks, Spring Mountain academy, etc.

That's the BMW way! Total unadulterated steadfast depreciation and they keep buying em?

Generally speaking, dealers look at wholesale pricing to determine your trade value, and that doesn't list options. A knowledgeable dealer will see your car and recognize those packages for what they are, and probably give you (if you push) a few thousand extra. But generally, no, options don't do much for resale value. In my experience, if selling it yourself, it makes it easier to sell it, but unless it's an option package like the BW over a "regular" CTx, then no.

What Nick said, although the BMW does do a few things better, which I've listed below.

OK, j/k. Now the earlier cars with iDrive 7 are better than the new massive screen iDrive 8 with no buttons, and the iDrive in turn is better than GM's infotainment system. Some of the interior plastic bits are slightly better in the BMW and the paint, general fit & finish is better.

And on the Caddy you get one "V" button for configurable settings, on the BMW you get two "M" buttons. Which are a pretty red color. :)

Sound, torque, front end feel / steering, steering wheel, and driver display. The single worst thing about my M4 was the engine and exhaust sound. Which is - literally - amplified and worsened by hitting the exhaust button on the console. Absolutely abhorrent design.
