Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

You can decide how far out or recessed you want them. But if you go with the carbon tips, you lose the slant cut. So the bottom will stick out further than I like, but eso si que es

I needed to wash my (white) 5BW and discovered that a bird had crapped on my hood. I have PPF , only on the front of the car. I soaked this "purple' bird poo with a foam cannon and let it soak for a few minutes. This stuff was persistent , but finally came off. Then I noticed that the purple (probably some type of berry) had penetrated the PPF. I used a clay bar first and it barely did anything. Then I used some very fine polishing compound and it took quite a while and elbow grease. There is still a fine purple mark that I don't want to rub anymore. I am sure that I rubbed off the ceramic coating that was applied on top of the PPF. I can see a distortion when the water is on the hood.
I need to avoid parking under my tree or cut the tree down. Seriously thinking about it !

I think it was a mistake using a clay bar and polishing compound on ceramic. I think synthetic clay towels are OK used with lubricant, but not a true clay bar. I have a spray bottle with diluted rinseless wash for the occasional bird dropping. I'm not sure what the best plan is for a stain that doesn't wash off, but abrasives probably aren't a good idea.

When I had my black Audi I always had detailing spray and microfiber towels in the trunk. Would check the car every time I got in or out. Time is of the essence here. As I’m sure everyone knows, you want to soak the bird shit and never rub it. It’s full of small abrasive grain particles and will scratch the surface very easily.

I gave it a good soak and 99% of it washed away and then I saw it stained the PPF layer. I could not believe how hard it was to get it off before I started using the 3M swirl remover polish. Its the finest polisher you can get. I am going to schedule a detail with the installer and have polish off the hood ceramic coating and put a new layer on. Good thing my car is white. You have to really look to see the blemish.
From now on I will not be letting the car sit under a tree or leave bird crap on it after I see it.

I haven't had my new '24 5BW for a full week yet, but have only done mostly kinda "boring" mods so far:

Ordered personalized plates
Wing Puddle Lamps (she liked these better than the text)
Hard wire radar - Gen5diy harness, blend mount
Screen protector on infotainment screen
SD Cards for PDR and surround vision
All Weather Trunk mat
BW License plate frame
Valve stem caps
Window Tint
Blacked out front amber lenses
Ceramic coated

This is the wife's car so I wont be able to do too many extreme mods, will save those for my Raptor R....but I'll admit I am a little addicted to searching for my next mod lol. Thinking about the JLT CAI but what to do next....

She's got 32,589 on the odo now.
  • Changed the oil & oil filter
  • Rotated the tires from one side to the other. Was pretty impressed with the even wear across the tread on both fronts & rears. They all seem to be wearing evenly. I thought baby might be needing a new pair of shoes soon but looks like it can probably wait.
  • Changed the brake pads as they were almost down to the sensors. Interestingly, there's a brake wear sensor on the driver's front & px rear only -- not all 4 corners. I zip-tied them out of the way bc I don't need them to remind me to change the pads.
This was her maiden flight on the QuickJack & even with the extensions, she was almost too long to fit on the QJ!

I like that color! I got a black one you interested?

I got my car ppfed fully from the front, a custom license plate frame and that’s basically it. Boring mods but planning to replace my 20% tint with 0% VLT.
The dealer provided the 20% and ceramic coated it for 0 cost.

I haven't seen those wing puddle lamps before. Link?

He's an EV guy now. 🤣
You're not too far off.

There is no better mindless conmuter than my i6. In fact, I wouldn't mind an i6N at turn in.

I also got an '88 Saab 9000 Turbo 5mt that was a clone of my deceased brother's car that I'm restoring.

So two cars added since I bought the BlackWing. It sits around more than it should.

I want to build a museum for my car/model car hobby. The sale of the car means I can buy the land in cash.
