@ArgentWing what an awesome thread! I'm enjoying reading everyone's stories about the cars they've owned over the years!
Growing up in Greece, I had to wait until I turned 18 to get my driver's license and ask my dad to borrow his car. He owned some cool cars over the years, which I loved to put through their paces.
The first car I learned how to shift gears in was a 1980 VW Scirocco. By third grade, I was able to shift up to second gear and navigate around the parking lot across from our family home.
Later, my dad owned a red Mazda MX3 V6 MT, slightly modified with an air intake, cat-back exhaust, and lowered suspension. It was a blast to drive, especially on the winding mountain roads of Greece. I spent a lot of time pushing it to its limits during time attacks up in the mountains.
My first car in my name was a 1992 Buick Le Sabre with a blue velvet interior. I bought it for a couple of grand when I moved to the US for grad school in 2004. While it got me from point A to point B, I couldn't help feeling a bit embarrassed driving it. Never took a picture of this car, but looking back i should as it is part of my American dream story
After four years, I upgraded to my dream car at the time in 2008, a 2004 Mazda RX-8 MT with 30k miles. This car was an absolute blast to drive, with its rotary engine and ability to rev up to 9k rpms. I couldn't resist modding it with lowering springs, an air intake, full exhaust (throwing flames), and a short shifter. However, it also got me into a fair bit of trouble... I managed to put 100k miles on the motor before trading it in after six years of ownership for a 2014 Mustang GT Track Pack.
I kept the Mustang for ten years, making a few modifications like an intake and cat-back exhaust. It only had 37k miles on it when I traded it in for the 24 4BW.
While the 4BW is the best car I've ever owned, I sometimes wish I still had the RX-8 parked next to the Caddy.
After loading all the photos, I blame my dad's Sciroco for liking red colored cars
