Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

I'm a liar

Don't let the Aston police see the state of that garage floor!!!!
The garage is a project coming soon. I have plans to make it Aston worthy lol

I've heard the issues are more electrical in nature the V8 and V12 are pretty robust with one being a modified Jaguar unit that's been in production for over a decade, and one being two Ford (Mazda based) V6's.

Eh, most of the electrical is fine and found on Volvos.

The headlights and tail lights can trap water and get borked and cost $$$.

Ah makes sense.

The water issues are not great, but I imagine keeping it garage stored, and frequently inspection of these areas will prevent those issues.

Congrats man! All good things change. Sell a blackwing, thot you'd buy some land, and here you are with a Martin. I have to ask how does the AM drive compare to the blackwing you owned?

I know a guy who owned AM and eventually switched to Porsche because of the depreciation heartache but at 50k i'd say thats baked in.

This generation of AMV8 depreciated about 65% and as since rebounded nicely, even before the pandemic. Probably because the new one is so ugly, LOL.

From what I've read and heard, the only real money pit potential in these things is the clutch. It's a transaxle and the labor is substantial to replace it.

I did 700 miles in the rain in it yesterday. It feels like it's a solid hunk of metal. It feels like a proper GT car for crossing continents. Everything you touch is special except the cheap Ford stalks.

It's an experience car, it's not a numbers car. There are faster cars out there.

The BlackWing is a great NEW car. The Aston has character, theater. It's an experience. I'm smitten. My wife gets too, like after being in it for 2 minutes. She commented on the sound during my first 7000+rpm shift.

Yep. The clutch. I think it's a TEENSE overblown like the 996 IMS bearing. I took mine out with the salesman and floored it in 4th-5th-6th from like 40mph with no slip.

So I'm good for now. The problem is solved with the twin clutch upgrade which Aston sells as a kit or you have aftermarket kits too. It brings with it a lighter flywheel for a bit better response.

Short vid from my channel. It made my wife laugh and cry hehe.

Also some pictures after a wash.

I'll take both of them: The diecast and the aston martin! Beautiful color, I love it the interior is impecable for a decade old machine. I can't wait to see a tube video with the exhaust and a POV to witness the experience! Congrats!

I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but I hate you. ;)

This is exactly what I almost bought a few years ago. Same colors, same series, same wheels... it was in Texas (I'm in NC) and I arranged a PPI at the AM dealer, and they quoted me something like $750 to inspect it. I protested, and the service guy went on about how thorough the inspection was and that I should be prepared for that kind of expense owning an AM. This was probably 10 or more years ago, I wasn't making quite as much money as I do now (although now that I think about it, with inflation and my annual increases not keeping up, I probably made more then than now) and it just really scared me and so I backed-out of the deal.

But I still think it's just one of the best looking cars out there, and the quality of interior materials, paint, etc. is just tremendous. So yeah, I'm a bit jealous.

I think it's one of the only truly beautiful modern cars around.

And yes, everything you touch feels special and bespoke. The only exceptions are the cheap ass stalks lol.

My budget was only putting me in '06-08 small motor cars. They were fine. I lucked out with this '14 and borderline stole it.

It's been striking up conversations wherever it goes be it the car wash or gas station.

I met with my detailer for a PPF strategy. We are going to do ceramic tint and dechrome the rest of the trim, nothing that can't easily be returned to stock. I am not a fan of the wheels so they'll be replaced with gunmetal ones in 12 months or so.

Oh, and the upgraded mid level Alpine is the best car audio I've had from the factory.

@Jameson's Viggen Your membership here is hanging on by a thread, so the probation committee is requesting regular 7k rpm v-8 goodness videos while we evaluate your status.
Let me get through winter slumber first lol.

So I went to the dealer and got the window sticker. It has the Sports Suspension option. Interesting.

Even more interesting the Q Paint Option for Volcano Red wasn't itemized, like it wasn't charged as an option. The sales person said the only time they've seen that if it's a show car or an Aston Executive's personal commission. So this car keeps getting more interesting.

For those playing at home, I recently sold my Blackwing.

Why, why, why!

At the time, I said it was to buy land and build my dream property to house my car collection as a museum.

That was the truth at the time. I was wanting to save funds to buy land within 5yrs.

Problem is the land I want, he won't sell it unless I buy 35 acres next to it for $5m.

Whoops.

So Instead. After 16yrs, I sold my Roadster to a friend. I decided to put the funds from the BlackWing with the Roadster sale and buy a dream car of mine.

So I did.

It had to be a 2 seater, as small as possible, achingly beautiful, THREE pedals, special, rare. I also never had a V8, this would be my first. I had a budget of about $50kView attachment 28508View attachment 28509View attachment 28510

It was a short list, but it was only one car for me . Sorry, the Corvette didn't cut it. It's too common, too big, it's not a dream car to me.

The Roadster became a lot for the street. I was always staring at the gauges and it was sitting too much. My wife began not loving that it was a convertible. So we wanted a 2 seater, a bit more GT, hop on and drive to Florida kind of car. I also don't really need to do much of anything in the way of mods aside from tint, Volk TE37s in Gunmetal and maybe exhaust, tune and intake

This car is not fast. I don't care. Now that I have an EV that acceleration is like an easy button. I really don't care about numbers. I care about theater, about experience. The noises this car makes as it revs to peak power at 7500rpms, worth it. A 997 911 GTS in many ways is a better car on paper but is $30k MORE used and far less special to me. This car depreciated $100k from its $165k sticker lol. Everyone assumes bad reliability and super high maintenance costs. But it's the secret that this Ford era car is an exception.

So yeah, I said I didn't sell the BlackWing for another car, there was no next car. It was true at the time. But I know I seem like a liar lol .
Once again congratulations on newest addition. Even not having a BW anymore please keep in touch on forum as your insider views have been enlightening. Also should you hear about any BW diecasts ever coming to fruition please share.
