I'm a liar

Damn, sits on his ass in my garage making me install custom carbon trim pieces then up and sells it for an Aston Martin. Joking aside, congrats lovely and timeless car. If only I could go full on impractical haha

So, first, congrats. Details on the model year, engine, etc. please as I don't know when they started/ended with the V12 or if it was even available with three pedals.

Second, great color choice.

Third, I almost bought a Vantage. Twice. Actually, three times, but the first time it slipped away, the second two times I couldn't do it for various reasons that are irrelevant to this discussion.

I will agree though that these are special cars, the quality of paint, leather, etc. is way up there, the engine sounds are fabulous and all Internet lore is that they are rather robust and not expensive to run and maintain, if you can stay away from the dealer.

A buddy of mine had one, and he would often wax eloquent and nearly endlessly on the fabulous paint, the fit & finish of the interior bits, the attention to detail. One could nitpick the shortcomings, like the technology that was dated when the car was designed, some shared parts from Volvo and perhaps Ford, although I consider those to be positives, as the savvy shopper can save money when replacing bits. And who cares if the navigation system screen is too tiny to read when you've got that flat plane crank?

Heck, if one tried, one could probably find some shortcomings in a Blackwing. ;)
The Vantage was available with a V12 6 speed stick shift in 2012, a bit later the Vantage was refreshed and the V12 came back in 2016 as an automatic only and a horsepower bump.

In 2017 they brought the manual back as a 7 speed as a limited run car, I believe only 117 or so were built called the V12 Vantage S. It also included auto rev matching.

So theres two manual NA V12 Vantages you can buy.

He is a really smart and interesting guy.

A good friend of mine who grew up in Germany used to work for some concert promotion company over there and had the responsibility to make sure bands who came into town made it to their hotels and to the show and also to cater to whatever requirements they had for their rooms or what not. He's got some great stories - like how the Ramones were the absolutely stupidest people he ever met in his life (after driving them to their hotel from the airport).

He was very impressed by Henry Rollins who requested that he drive him all over Berlin showing him the sites and explaining what he knew about them and the history etc. He said Rollin's was intensely interested in details and facts and just wanted to learn stuff and that he was very unassuming.

I won't go into detail wrt his Micheal Jackson story except that he had a hell of a time disposing of 2-3K stuffed animals they had to get for his hotel suite. Eventually dumping them in a landfill as they couldn't give them away...
Nothing you said surprises me about him. Any time I've seen him interviewed was always taken, what appeared to me at least, very seriously. The few folks in life I've known like that were pretty smart people but difficult to have a "fun" time with. I'm all for seriousness but gotta loosen up some times. Not a lot of stories I've ever heard publicly about Rollins besides his kidnapping.

Not familiar with that one. But I probably couldn't pick out Taylor Swift in a lineup...so in general I'm pretty out of it when it comes to events in popular culture...

Apparently Rollins was accused of kidnapping his friend that IIRC they never found. I don't know how factual any of it is, just recall hearing about it years ago.

T. Swift could use a cheese burger or two.

I never heard of any kidnapping case, but he and his buddy Joe Cole were robbed at gunpoint back in the 90's and they murdered Joe.

Yes. That is more info than I could remember. Thanks!
I remember the investigators thought Rollins was the kidnapper/killer initially.
