Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

why not c6 z06? the c7z maybe is too close to the 5bw in drivetrain (altho it sounds nothing like it from inside the cabin!) but the NA ls7 is certainly different and sporty enough

Ahh...Yes the biggest lie of it all the "College Degree" lol......what a facking joke! Took just a few decades to create the most useless, under appreciated working attitudes or go-getters one could imagine. Total garbage from the institutions on down with money grabbing from the parents pockets to bastardizing their kids ideology to almost indoctrinating a societal movement of American hating individuals! Just look at the dude assassinated on the streets of N.Y. and the American response?

That is not and would never have been handled by the American public from generations in the past in the manner that it's been currently! Mostly this reaction can be traced right back to that stupid "College Degree" if you want to succeed BS! You now have nothing but useless so called educated adults who can't do the simplest of tasks or relied upon for anything it's beyond repairable imo damage has been done and the monetary side is now upon us!

There are not enough adjectives in the English language to describe what Joe Bidden has done domestically and internationally it's beyond comprehensible how somebody could F it up that bad and give away that much....
I could not have said it better ! Colleges have turned into businesses and not places of real education. 70% of college graduates don't even get a job in the field that they studied. It just becomes a piece of useless paper to impress someone on a resume. I just saw a story about a guy who was high school drop out. He applied to some college and they questioned him about his lack of credentials and when he showed them the cash he had to pay for the first year, they smiled and said "welcome" !

There was a time when a college degree meant something; when people with college degrees were the exception rather than the rule. Now, I'd venture that the majority of the population has them.

Correct, and most people haven't a clue that in fact the price for admission is TOTALLY 100% Negotiable! So you tell me what kind of crap that is.....

That didn’t last long…

Well I did already have a bunch of college credits so I wasn't complete zero.

All new is fake, if you don’t like it. So I hope Agent Orange does all he promised and when inflation gets back to 8 percent, interest rates go back up, people lose their ACA coverage, GDP is down and nobody is around to work agro jobs, I’ll have lots of fun smearing all of it into the faces of his supporters.
How unAmerican. Whether you love or hate the current, previous, next, etc., I don't understand the level of hate on 50% of a population. When one side fails, the other does too. Must be a miserable life to enjoy watching others pain.

Not miserable at all, I'll enjoy it. Now who said, "I've never wished anyone dead, but I've relished reading an obituary".....

Thanks for the try. I had, didn't care for the C7, I've had 2 C6s and they're good cars, but the Z06 is way stiff on the road and has engine issues. And expensive. Says the guy that just bought another new car, LOL.

As for the rest of you mooks: let's keep this thread civil, eh? This forum tends to be more mature and reasonable than many out there, let's not ruin it. Sure, we don't all agree on politics, and every president past, present and future has made mistakes, omissions and lost opportunities, so that's just an argument that can't be won.

And yes, the federal government has many wasteful programs, some are no good, some are great but poorly managed and some are rife with fraud. The simple fact is that most of those cannot be cut, changed, cleaned-up or tightened up without a huge effort and likely some serious pain along the way. Yes, we should make an effort, but everything needs to be reasonable, with reasonable expectations. Kill the rhetoric and come back to earth. And let's be nice about it. Please?

Not sure who said that and frankly couldn't care less. It's just as dumb a remark as wishing half the place to fail.

I don't judge a person because of their political views or what car they drive (well maybe I do....a bit)...but that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. No reason not to be civil...or even friends (in an online sense). We're here primarily to talk cars - exchange info and tips and revel in how lucky we are to have the great car(s) we do and to enjoy that. All the rest is gravy as it were...

I worked my entire career (34+ years) in the Federal Government - about 1/4 of it in an over-site role (with GAO) and the rest in DOD. I've pretty much seen it all. Sure there are wasteful programs and practices (more or less with all large bureaucratic organizations) and often folks who you wondered what did they ever do in any productive sense. But I would say this latter group is a minority (by what extent I cannot exactly say)

But by and large I had the good fortune to work among some pretty elite groups of people - most often who blew me away with their knowledge, skill, dedication and hard work. I was very Deep State BTW and I have to say the Deep State (other than perhaps the functioning of large bureaucracy....that mostly I was able to avoid) does not have a liberal bias....in fact the vast majority of the folks I worked with were very conservative/staunchly Republican (including contractors).

And from what I saw there was no indication to me that one's political affiliations or outlook had any bearing on their work or dedication to the nation. I fully trusted all to be "doing the right thing" as it were and also was able to get along with everyone....as we all did.

For the most part I still retain a high degree of trust that those who work in the Federal Government - in positions or with responsibilities that matter are doing great things for us for which we should all be thankful. That being said I'm still probably just as cynical about government as most here are....but maybe to a lesser extent due to my direct experience (which was very good).

I think you’re misusing the term because it refers to a group of around 100 people and if you’re one I’d be surprised to see you here. DC votes 94% Democrat so also hard to believe most of your coworkers were not liberals. 😌

Most people that work in DC don't live there.

Well you're wrong on all counts I think (based on my experience). You'll likely never come across anyone in your life who was as "Deep State" as I was (not that there really is such a thing as a deep state). I'm retired now 10+ years so am nobody now and that just suits me fine. I've done my service....its me time now....

No offense, but you’re deep into something and it isn’t the dictionary. And I’m also in the Hells Angels and I cruise with them on my mountain bike.
