Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

Well you're wrong on all counts I think (based on my experience). You'll likely never come across anyone in your life who was as "Deep State" as I was (not that there really is such a thing as a deep state). I'm retired now 10+ years so am nobody now and that just suits me fine. I've done my service....its me time now....
So you're Cpt Deep State?

Don’t tell anyone, but my sources tell me he’s leading the plot to overthrow the Canadian government and replace it with a communist regime. It’s all part of a broader plan for a US invasion and takeover of Canada. His cover is a retired fed worker that drives a BW.

I am currently reading Kash Patels book. He names the people who are big time participants of the Deep State. The Clintons are the King and Queen.
I hear that the pictures are good.

so anyone else have a take on the c6 or 7 z06??
I'm not generally a Corvette guy - just in general - as I've always felt them to be too big - at least for a 2 seater.

That being said those Z06 cars are beasts well worthy of praise. I've always been a fan of the high performance vettes for what they are and enjoy seeing them on the road. That they are so good (supercar territory) and are generally attainable for many folks appeals to my anti-elitist streak and makes me proud to be an American. I wouldn't fault anyone for wanting or driving either if that floats your boat.

I know I'm no expert and wouldn't recommend relying on me for advice wrt which to choose or in general....but I wouldn't necessarily rely on the opinions of some here wrt to politics/politicians or with opinions on the so-called "deep state" - things I suspect they truly know little about.

I have a C7 Z06 with an auto. It replaced a C6 Z06 with a manual. Both are a blast to drive. It does take a little getting used to the long front end. Anyone curious why the replacement, the C6 was under 7' of Ian water. Less than 5k on the odo at the time. You can see the water marks as it reseeded.

ignoring the trans since they were different, how else would you compare the c6 and c7? decent ones seem to be around 45k for c6 and 70k for the c7. thats so close to a used 5bw that i feel like i'd rather have the sedan form factor even if its not as loud and engaging as a z06 is going to be but did you like your c6?

Biggest difference between the two was power. The 7 was substantially stronger than the 6. Handling and braking similar. I preferred the controls on the 6 only because GM still believed in buttons at the time. Trying to compare the C7 to the BW5 is a difficult one. The feels and sounds from the Vette are raw. I guess comparing performances of each they are similar. Do you want lots of noise from exhaust/motor/street or peace and quiet in the same amount of time? Do you need to haul anything larger than your laptop?

i feel like 'i can always add a louder exhaust or whinnier intake to the 5bw, i cant add back seats and a trunk to a z06' and i do [rarely] haul kids around

I had a C5 Z06 and 'normal' C6 & C7 variants, all properly equipped with three pedals. The C6 was a big step up in interior materials. The base C6 had more horsepower than the C5 Z06, although IIRC less torque, weighed more and of course, suspension and brakes.

Aside from looks, which tends to be personal, the C6 was the last with hydraulic steering, as @evil said it had more buttons than screens, and the 7-speed in the C7 was, for me, garbage. Too many gears. I also had more problems getting in and out of the C7 than C6, mostly d/t dash design.

Although, personal experience only, the C6 has more issues with recognizing the fob, which can be very annoying.

I sold my second C6 to buy the aforementioned Supra largely because when it came time to decide what car to drive, the Corvette or the BW, the Corvette lost, and just sat there getting dusty.
