Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Went ahead and tried my hand at painting my own emblems… surprisingly it didn’t go to bad. (the gloss black has a weird effect on the pictures..)

What are folks thoughts on the V emblem, paint all the chevron cutouts electric blue or stay with the 3 I have now? I was thinking about even doing the other 3 in Iridescent Pearl, I have some extra touch up paint from my Suburban.
How did you paint the letters on the Blackwing badge? Want to do mine in red.

A little trial and error but what I found that works is to flood the engraved letters with paint and allow to dry. One of the images shows that. Then using an old credit card I lightly scrapped the paint off that sits above letters, leaving the paint with the letters themselves. Then I used a white buff bit on my dremel to further clean up the areas and return the emblem to a shine. I then did a clear coat the same way.

Thank you for the info. I painted the letters in the shift knob on my Lotus Evora GT by using a toothpick to drop paint in and then I buffed it afterwards today very fine Brillo pad. Makes such a difference!

Apologies but I already parked the cars for the night when I saw this thread. Bad angles but I think they look good. On the advice of another thread, I used 6mm spacers to keep them (rears) from rubbing.

I was going to ask why, but then I surmised from other posts that you upsized the tires. I'm happy to see that they offer the A/S in our sizes, as that's what I'll go to when baby needs new shoes.

We should do a Triangle get-together for all of us BW owners... any ideas?

Oh, and my contribution to this thread is that I changed the oil again. I have to look it up each time, can't remember if it's 9 or 10 quarts.

No, I don't trust the dealership.

I've done almost the same although I wiped quickly after applying the paint. Same process as yours but required a few coats. The benefit for me was not needing to polish after all drying. I've only done one of the blackwing badges so far. Using a black badge I used white for the words black and red in the wing. I'll add pics later.
I've used the same method on a few guns in the past too. Not to mention adding a white dot sight to the end of my LCP all painted with fingernail polish. A father of 3 daughters/1 granddaughter, there is never a shortage.

Nice, I tried that initially. I think my paint is a bit too thick for that as each time I wiped, it pulled out pockets of paint.

Interesting, sorry you had to go through all that. Recently, I left my 22’ 5BW just past 5 weeks without charging and it fired right up. My wife & I were impressed.
I keep a jump box for those “just in case” moments in all 6 cars I have and have a reminder every 6 months to recharge them. I thought I read somewhere of sleep mode, but that could be a different one I own.
Just in my driveway. I suggested to my eldest son who was staying at our house that he might want to take it out and drive it....but not out of concern for the battery...just to enjoy it (he's driving a Honda Fit now)...but he never did...(drank my beer pretty good though

Transport mode might be a consideration for extended non-use:

  • Begin with engine Off
  • Turn on the hazard flashers
  • Press and hold the brake pedal
  • Press the start button and hold for @ 15 seconds
  • "Transport Mode On" will appear on the cluster and the battery warning lamp will flash
  • Use the same procedure to cancel the On mode
  • Cluster will show "Transport Mode Off" and battery warning lamp will extinguish after cancellation

Well thanks shbox...never imagined such a thing. I assume the car can't be started in this mode as well...

I forgot to add, my wipe was damp. No science from me but it worked well enough to keep from absorbing what was fresh.

I believe it can. I think it is used when the car is being transported (LOL) from the factory to the dealer. I have seen mentioned that some functions may not be available.

This past weekend the Blackwing served as the take home vehicle for my newborn son, second child.
Congratulations. You brought him home in style!
