Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

I gave my bw a garage upgrade this winter. I had a garage heater installed and in order to take care of attic condensation issues above the car, I had the entire inside of the roof spray foamed. The bw will now be warm in the winter.

@ernsteeng Nice! I added a mini-split ac/heater to mine a year or so ago and love it regardless of the weather conditions.

Question- what kind of floor material do you have? I’ve been considering adding flooring instead of recoating mine this time.
Happy and any cons?

Floor looks great @ernsteeng
Chicago weather isn't for everyone. It is nice to come out in the morning knowing it is single digits but the car is already warm. I usually keep the house garage around 55 since the house does help some as well. Shop stays at 65F. I used to keep it cooler but when the warm air would show up, everything would sweat. Chrome doesn't like sweat. My hand controls on a harley turned to shit because of it. Now I have a dehumidifier that I make sure to bring out when the weather makes big changes to help alleviate the moisture.

I used a closet organization company because at the time I was only interested in updating my laundry room cabinets. They were my old kitchen cabinets before the remodel and needed to go. I wound up replacing the laundry room cabinets and decided to have the garage done at the same time. The floor is the swiss trax (they call it Traxtile) and I like them a lot. In retrospect I wish I put a little color into them. I just got the gray but they can add other colors. This is the same floor they use at the Barrett Jackson auctions and the like. I've had them for 2.5 years and never needed to clean them, even after the messy Chicago winter. Eventually the car comes in wet after a rainstorm and it washes away dirty trax on the floor. fwiw I used the local Closets by Design company in the Chicago area. It was more expensive than the epoxy coatings on the ground, but not much more. I never liked the epoxy finishes and wanted to do something different. Flooring and click on Traxtile.

I love those tile floors but I worry just the thought that underneath isn't being cleaned properly would destroy my mentalness. I am a big fan of clean, polished concrete.

The only thing I haven't figured out is how to get the small leaves out from under the tile floor. I can't see the small leaves from my locust tree, but I know they are under there. The leaf blower didn't really do much except blow some of the dust around the garage.

Yeah, no. My head is spinning for your garage. They say your attitude for the day is generally determined in the first hour. Exiting the house through the garage determines it for me. Those leaves would destroy me.

I'm happy that I can't see them. The trax really hide dirt well. I just looked at a couple of videos because I hadn't done so before. The trax need to be separated and pulled out of the garage. That can be done in large groups at the same time to make it easier, then clean the floor, and reinstall.

Because we deal with salt all winter, I end up gutting the garage every spring and do a total power scrub and fresh layer of concrete wax/sealer. I'd only be giving myself more work with the tiles. I've seen a number of them online with different designs and colors used and always look great. Not sure how they'd do with sleds running over them?

I had the garage floor done in epoxy paint and the grit was added for grip. If the floor is wet, you can still slip easily and bust your ass. Another issue is, that if the tires are "hot" and you park the car. The floor has a couple of small spots where the paint lifted up and had to be touched up. The floor was prepped with a sander and chemicals and the paint will still wrinkle/peel. If I have to do it again, I will do the plastic floor tiles.

And now when I look at the floor I see some of the stuff underneath. At quick glance you can't see it, but when you know there is stuff there... Cleaning out the tiles and garage floor will be a project this spring.

It is a true 20/20 car. Driven as often as mother nature allows. I even did a small parade. I wash it at the start of the summer and maybe once or twice during, then before its put away for hibernation.

Dropped off at local shop to have some vroom vroom surgery. Figured since I was on a cruise for 8 days would be good time to be without it.
Getting Kong porting to SC, Kooks headers and green cats.
