Precision Package Owners - How is it?

@CB34

Can you please explain this? Is the build tool on Cadillac’s web site incorrect? Not being wise, just looking to learn how you know.

According to the web site build tool, competition tires are required when Precision Package is selected.
Your problem is that you are looking at the website - never look at the website. It is a marketing tool, nothing more.

So if you were to order this at the dealer, they would need to select V8V and the ROF option RPO codes to add the precision package with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires rather than the Sport Cup 2's. If you wanted the Sport Cup 2's, then they would select the V8V with Q2Y RPO code in their tool.

Thank you.

As a very longtime user of configuration tools on manufacturer web sites, I know very well they are often incorrect. I was just wanting to learn the backchannel information since I’m not a highly experienced GM guy.

With all this being said, do you have actual knowledge about this from dealer experience or seeing this done? There’s always the possibility that the web site/order guide you’ve referenced is inaccurate, no? Not second guessing you here, but wanting to know if you know whether this has actually been done. I’ve seen many an order guide publish incorrect information.

I have a PP configured with PS4 tires. So it can be done in the GM order tool.

I have a long drive home in what will be unknown weather conditions. So I went with the safe bet. I have spare wheels ready for a set of the PSC2 tires. So if anyone is taking off their PSC2 tires to replace with something else, feel free to DM me for a potential sale…

Cool, thanks!

I think you made the right decision. I recently removed Cup2s from my Porsche 718 Spyder RS and fitted Michelin PS4S. I’m not driving on track and I’d rather not die on the road if it happens to rain, and my estimation is it’s nearly impossible for me to identify any superiority of the Cup2s while driving on typical street roads.

PSC2 tires are marginal in the rain when new. After a little bit of wear (which happens quickly) they become very sketchy in the rain very quickly. Fantastic on a dry race track though.

And note that the tires supplied with the PP are Cup 2 “R” compound, with even less tread than the Cup 2 design.

R as in Race.

Michelin even calls them a “semi-slick”.

IMO, this is mostly why the PP is such an improvement over non-PP.

Why is there so much hate here for the base seats? These "base" seats are better than 98% of the seats out there on other cars (yeah, yeah, I know, it's a Cadillac) and I'll bet any of you guys and gals that the underlying structure is the same on them as on the "mid-tier" or "upper-tier" seats, which simply have nicer leather and/or stitching.

There. I said it. Flame away boys. :r

The config I want to order is TLXJAH. The way I got there was to select the precision package then go back to the exterior tab. It'll have "competition oriented, summer-only tires" selected. Change it to "performance, summer-only" tires and you're there.

For the price of the car, most of the options don't matter. The seats are basically the only option besides the PDR that adds some sort of value that you will actually use. Considering the base price of the car, adding 3k more for upgraded seats that don't look like they were pulled out of the regular CT5 which costs 30k less seems like a solid reason to add them.

Yes, realistically they don't matter much but its like seeing a Corvette or Camaro where the buyer didn't option the NPP exhaust. Its a no brainer and will do you a disservice down the road. Just get them.
