CT5-V HORRIBLE experience with Bayway Cadillac SW

CT5-V Model
I very clearly stated to my eldest son (18 at the time) you are about to learn how to say NO forcefully and often.
The dealership was not bad but they did try some old school standard issue nonsense. But im not 18, my son is, and its very easy for me to say no Ill be going now.
Great learning experience for him. We had several good laughs.

No, I don't have any BW right now. I had a 23 TRX that I sold last month. Right now I'm driving wife's old 2003 Avalon :).

I am guilty of paying ADM but that was when Hellrango was only supposed to be one year model and dealer had exact vehicle I wanted, brought him down from $10K to $5k over sticker. But at this point, unless it is a very rare car or I want it immediately I will not play any of these stupid games.

Yes, I understand that with new MSRP, I might end up paying more than $300 but like I said, I am in no hurry. I would have loved to have BW in my driveway right now but no urgency......I'm patiently waiting for 26 order slots to open... in the meanwhile I'm going to try out some other vehicles.
I wasn't there and it wasn't my situation, but do remember that you have a ton of warranty and regular service work that you can take to the selling dealer's service department or literally any other nearby dealer. That's a fairly big bargaining chip but you may have to escalate to the dealer's GM to get any traction. It kind of sounded like the whole place was rotten so it might not have worked, but it is good to remind them that if they try to nickel and dime you on the purchase they're screwing their service department. As we all should know the service department is the cash cow of every dealership.

A wise person once told me “no” was a complete sentence. But more importantly one needs to clearly know their intentions and motivations to make good decisions.

That aside, I bought my 5BW sight unseen as it was a show/event car inbound to the dealer. Never seen a 5BW in person until my car arrived. Lots of demand in early 2022 and the dealership had leverage. Sewell would not sell out of state and other dealers in my state all had ADM (one wouldn’t even tell me the ADM over the phone, but typically it was $10K to $15K). That was a line I would not cross. My dealer had a no ADM policy which I appreciated. I traded my Mercedes and they gave me a loaner for 2 weeks until my car arrived. Give and take on that front also appreciated.

Picked up this beauty to hold me over till I get MY26.

No comparison to CT5-BW in terms of features, powers or comfort but at half the price.....it is blast to drive. Only put 25 miles on it so far but loved every minute of it.

Damn bruh, what do you do that you can afford to just cop cars on a whim like that?

Those are nice. Too bad Acura won’t make any manual cars anymore. One of the rarest cars is the previous TL with 6 cylinder and six speed manual. I think they only made about 1000 of them in total. Both Acura and Audi have dropped the ball on this, going with tech tech tech instead of the actual driving experience

Bzzzzt. The ITS (Integra Type S) comes only in a manual.

Damn that sucks. I bought my new 2024 from them and didn’t have the etch charge at all.

FWD? Buzzkill.
Agreed. Just trying to clarify the earlier statement.

And Audi still make cars with manual transmissions, they just don't sell them in the USA anymore. Because we (Americans collectively, not us on this forum) are a bunch of weenies who are more concerned with our smart phone integration than the driving experience.

Lately I’m more likely to pass on Raiti’s videos than watch them - I find him more than a tad annoying and not terribly insightful - so I’m a little surprised that I wouldn’t zonk any of his yearend choices:

I'm political ???
In my total history, I posted TWO things.
-I'm 100% MAGA, and I will not self censor, or be censored by tyrants.
-I don't want to hear about INFLATION as a excuse for current GREED pricing,
because we all should know who/what caused it, and I did everything i could to stop it.
That's it.

Yet, it's those that oppose my position that are posting entire essays to argue politics, calling me names, cursing me. threatening me, sending me private messages, and calling for me to be censored and banned.
Yet, I AM THE ONE THAT IS POLITICAL, and I AM THE PROBLEM ???????

I'm here to talk cars and share info/resources as a lifetime GM V8 buyer, and as a car guy who will probably end up owning a 5BW stickshift for the rest of my life. But, I'm not going to be bullied or censored either.

As far as the ZR1 MSRP, I can agree to disagree with you.
That's because I am educated, confident, and not some weak tyrant that trys to bully others and censor opposing views. Why does it seem to be only one side that always does that?

This post, from 2017, is still a good writeup. Early on jammers showed some promise against older simpler radar guns. Then the FCC made it a $100k fine + possible jail time. Since then they've driven any reputable companies out of business while radar guns have advanced to the point that any reasonable jammer is ineffective. The real snake oil salesmen will try to sell you a device that just 'reflects' a corrupted signal back to the cop and prevents a speed reading. All of these are 100% ineffective to the point that one reviewer has a standing $50,000 bounty for an effective radar jammer and it doesn't look like he's ever had to pay out.

If you're pushing enough power to actually jam police radar: 1) you pose a serious health risk to you and those around you & 2) The FCC will eventually track you down and make an example out of you.

I'm not really motivated to look up laser jammers because I can't have any of these toys where I live regardless of efficacy.

True but the TL was manual AWD, I should have been more clear. The Type S is FWD. I mean manual and or RWD and AWD

The shopping/dealing part of buying a new car is usually more fun to me than actually acquiring it. Years ago it was a lot more fun when dealers truly had ability to negotiate.

I had a '24 ITS for about 6 months. Was very fun car to drive. FWD was a bit annoying, but outside of first gear, it mostly worked fine. Added an air intake and that really added to the enjoyment factor hearing the turbo whoosh and blow-off sounds.

It's definitely not a Blackwing, but it's fun in it's own right.

Which intake did you put?

Coming from a lot more powerful vehicles (Hellrango, TRX, CT5BW), it took me couple of days to get use to ITS. Despite it being slower, it is a lot of fun, specially on the twisty roads. 6-speed manual is buttery smooth. I will say that IMO, it is smoother than what's in CT4/CT5 BW.

The only thing that I'm quite disappointed with is the tech, or the lack there of. Even compared to regular Integra, they took away features that should have been there. Not having folding mirrors and low res backup camera are real disappointments. I'll be putting the folding mirrors as there is a kit available but can't do much about the backup camera.

Armaspeed, it was easy to install, decent CF quality, and not too expensive. I recommend it.

Yeah, there is a lot missing for a $50k+ price point. I didn't buy it for the luxury and tech, but Acura did cheap out on some of that stuff as you mentioned. Driving experience is good though for sure. It's a fun car to zip around town.

Let me know if you ever get up to DFW, we have similar car experiences and tastes (I had a TRX too). We can grab a coffee or beer.

This sort of thing is why there's a generational push to eliminate the dealership model. It's amazing to take a step back and realize that it's commonly accepted an entire industry regularly defrauds customers, but it's viewed as part of the buying "experience" rather than a serious problem.

I've been through the same VIN etching nonsense in the past, great job OP for standing up on your principles. In my case, I walked in to buy a car off the lot that day, in cash; about as easy of a customer as it gets. The salesman dropped the price by $300, I agreed, and went to sign paperwork. I declined the push for various add-ons, including VIN-etching, and signed for just the car + title/fees. I get home and find out they slipped $300 etching into the final printed invoice anyway, but left it out of all the paperwork I signed. I managed to get my $300 back in the form of a check, and never bought a car or service from that dealer ever again.

Unfortunately, most people aren't willing to walk away like OP, so the business model continues to thrive.

There's a ton of "standard" features GM doesn't include in the 4BW like folding mirrors, rear view mirror camera, super cruise, surround vision, etc. Things fall away to meet the price point and also to create a real difference between the 4 and the 5 I guess.

I first went to Bayway SW around around March of 2022 to inquire about a 4BW. They told me they sold them for $25k over sticker. I walked.

The following month I ordered one for MSRP from Sewell-Houston.

Even though I had really bad experience with the dealership, my sales person was great and I would definitely love to give him more business but I refuse to give any more money to the dealership. I will definitely be going to Sewell, as that's where I bought my CT4-BW, which was one of the first 250 and if they had wanted they could have easily charged $25k over but they didn't charge a dime.
