"The gas-powered sedans will allegedly be replaced by sportback-style EVs. GM Authority claims to have exclusive information from sources close to the matter stating that the CT4 and CT5 replacements will arrive after 2026 as pure electric vehicles, and that he automaker has no active plans to pursue mixed powertrain offerings for those models. "
“Sources close to the matter” means the GM Authority guy was taking a dump and overheard two dudes talking in the bathroom at Walmart.

You got to hand it to GM leadership for some of the most brain-dead moves. GM has three cars in Car & Driver's top 10 and they want to get rid of two of them.

Maybe they will pull a Mopar move and go back to ICE.

Or, at the very least make them Chevrolet branded vehicles, they have an amazing winning formula on their hands, genuine world class driver's cars.

The CT5 is known to non car people as something exciting and desirable. They finally did it!

Came across this the other day and fully agree with the points this guy makes about what makes a car seem fast and fun. As much as I do enjoy the CT 4 V BW there are aspects to the car that feel somewhat muted to me....sound insulation, size is a bit larger then I prefer, seems slower than it actually is...etc. Not that I'm complaining - its a truly great car....but in some ways I still find driving our BMW & GTI more fun....and my old MR2 was the most fun of all...

Honestly its not a CT4 BW thing. Its most modern cars. When I was looking at replacing the 4 BW I drove new-ish porsche's, BMW's, hondas etc and could not shake that feeling of this does not feel fun in a way I want it to with any of them.

I think its weight, refinement(sound, ride quality and overall lack of harshness) which contribute to this problem. The older cars are worse in almost every measurable measure but they feel raw-er.

The only car new I see still approaching the old levels of fun is the miata. Its hilariously light, rolls like a drunk and will be beaten off the lights by every other new car but its ability to put a smile on someone's face is unmatched. I highly recommend a cheap miata as a second or third car just to get the joy of driving for driving sake. For daily fun driving though the BW is still peak for me.

Agree with all you say here. Cadillac did an amazing job with these cars IMO....considering that they're weighty modern cars....just about everything else (aside from limited rear seat room in the 4) they did right.

My eldest son used to own an NA Miata and it was a hoot. He's planning to buy a used NC and do an engine swap at some point.

My youngest son drives a modded early gen Toyota/Scion? 86....and its a hoot to drive as well...I understand the new ones are even better...

If I was in the market for a fun car now I would probably buy a 2nd gen MR2....or a Miata...
