Damn, sits on his ass in my garage making me install custom carbon trim pieces then up and sells it for an Aston Martin. Joking aside, congrats lovely and timeless car. If only I could go full on impractical haha

The Vantage was available with a V12 6 speed stick shift in 2012, a bit later the Vantage was refreshed and the V12 came back in 2016 as an automatic only and a horsepower bump. So, first, congrats. Details on the model year, engine, etc. please as I don't know when they started/ended with the V12 or if it was even available with three pedals.
Second, great color choice.
Third, I almost bought a Vantage. Twice. Actually, three times, but the first time it slipped away, the second two times I couldn't do it for various reasons that are irrelevant to this discussion.
I will agree though that these are special cars, the quality of paint, leather, etc. is way up there, the engine sounds are fabulous and all Internet lore is that they are rather robust and not expensive to run and maintain, if you can stay away from the dealer.
A buddy of mine had one, and he would often wax eloquent and nearly endlessly on the fabulous paint, the fit & finish of the interior bits, the attention to detail. One could nitpick the shortcomings, like the technology that was dated when the car was designed, some shared parts from Volvo and perhaps Ford, although I consider those to be positives, as the savvy shopper can save money when replacing bits. And who cares if the navigation system screen is too tiny to read when you've got that flat plane crank?
Heck, if one tried, one could probably find some shortcomings in a Blackwing.
Nothing you said surprises me about him. Any time I've seen him interviewed was always taken, what appeared to me at least, very seriously. The few folks in life I've known like that were pretty smart people but difficult to have a "fun" time with. I'm all for seriousness but gotta loosen up some times. Not a lot of stories I've ever heard publicly about Rollins besides his kidnapping. He is a really smart and interesting guy.
A good friend of mine who grew up in Germany used to work for some concert promotion company over there and had the responsibility to make sure bands who came into town made it to their hotels and to the show and also to cater to whatever requirements they had for their rooms or what not. He's got some great stories - like how the Ramones were the absolutely stupidest people he ever met in his life (after driving them to their hotel from the airport).
He was very impressed by Henry Rollins who requested that he drive him all over Berlin showing him the sites and explaining what he knew about them and the history etc. He said Rollin's was intensely interested in details and facts and just wanted to learn stuff and that he was very unassuming.
I won't go into detail wrt his Micheal Jackson story except that he had a hell of a time disposing of 2-3K stuffed animals they had to get for his hotel suite. Eventually dumping them in a landfill as they couldn't give them away...
Not familiar with that one. But I probably couldn't pick out Taylor Swift in a lineup...so in general I'm pretty out of it when it comes to events in popular culture...Not a lot of stories I've ever heard publicly about Rollins besides his kidnapping.
Skinny blonde chick with more money than Elon. Not familiar with that one. But I probably couldn't pick out Taylor Swift in a lineup...so in general I'm pretty out of it when it comes to events in popular culture...
Not skinny, perfect body would be a better descriptionSkinny blonde chick with more money than Elon.
Apparently Rollins was accused of kidnapping his friend that IIRC they never found. I don't know how factual any of it is, just recall hearing about it years ago.Not familiar with that one. I never heard of any kidnapping case, but he and his buddy Joe Cole were robbed at gunpoint back in the 90's and they murdered Joe.Apparently Rollins was accused of kidnapping his friend that IIRC they never found. I don't know how factual any of it is, just recall hearing about it years ago.
Yes. That is more info than I could remember. Thanks!I never heard of any kidnapping case, but he and his buddy Joe Cole were robbed at gunpoint back in the 90's and they murdered Joe.
@Jameson's Viggen Just getting to this thread. Are you buying this from Lexus of Smithtown? I'm only a mile away from there. Pretty sure I saw the car last week when I passed by the dealership. They're on a corner, so plenty of street facing real estate to display their cars. Let me know if you need someone to test drive her... you know, so you don't waste a trip in case it drives like crap!!!!Flying in and driving it home in 2wks. Great way to get to know the car.
Ha, yeah, thats the one.@Jameson's Viggen Just getting to this thread. Are you buying this from Lexus of Smithtown? I'm only a mile away from there. In all seriousness. If you are flying into MacArthur airport on Long Island, that's only 15 mins away from me. I can give you a ride to the dealership depending on the day you're coming in.
Considering my 5BW is infrared tintcoat, my eyes were immediately drawn to it for the color. It's real, and it's spectacular!!!Please tell me it looked great from a distance lol
I totally get this. But like you stated in another thread the 4 BW is still a hell of a lot of fun....its just very tamed in many ways compared to some of the older cars. While our ZHP isn't nearly as fast its fun to wined out and you really feel the car on the road. And my GTI is such a noisy fast little hoon machine. Most wouldn't think a GTI is raw.....but mine is and I love it that way.I’m starting to think newer cars are just not for me.
I pick it up tomorrow morning.Did you get it yet? Really curious to hear how it compares to your BW? I think the 4BW is amazing, but I’m starting to think newer cars are just not for me. So I might go back to a daily and I have been looking at Aston’s. In fact I think I checked out this one you bought.
It looks bigger than the Blackwing, hard to believe it is smallerI pick it up tomorrow morning.
Remember, this purchase wasn't over some kind of failing of the BlackWing. I don't think you can easily buy a better new car.
The Aston is far from new. The BlackWing does most things better. The Aston is here for theater, to feel truly special. It's older without being OLD. It's got enough safety and tech to make me not miss out on anything or feel unsafe. But it's got hydraulic steering and supposedly more steering feel than a 991+ 911 and it's a smaller car than my Blackwing. For me, it's just the right car for what I want it to do.
For me, NEW cars are great to lease as my work commuters. But for the special slots in my stable, I'm appreciating older/more analog cars.

15" shorter. It's still a porker at 3590lbs, but still about 200lbs lighter. Everything is metal, even the grill and side vents, very little plastic in the interior. It looks bigger than the Blackwing, hard to believe it is smaller
sooooooooooo?? How did it go???I pick it up tomorrow morning.
