Video Recorder

Sorry to revive an ancient thread. Should the video recorder be recording when driving? The only clips that are saving mine are when it's parked...
it can only record while driving if you have the performance data recorder option. If you don't track the car, it's good to have as it can monitor and record your drives (SD card slot near the parking brake). If you don't have it, the 360 camera records when someone approaches the car (the trunk SD slot).

I have a 25 5V BW and no trunk slot (and no PDR) unless I’m looking in the wrong places.

Surround vision: Open trunk, look at the right side by the fender, just ahead of the taillight, above the storage bin:

Thanks for the info. Unless they moved it, which I doubt, it’s another thing deleted from the 25s. Will check the OM to be sure, already read that section though and there wasn’t a lot of info on it.
Cadillacs website does state "HD surround vision" is still standard. I'd look in the manual to see if they did move the SD slot. The location in the trunk was kinda strange to begin with.

However, while looking through other options and 2025 window stickers, it's seem they did drop the massage function on the base 5bw seats.

The '25 Owners Manual has the SD Card slot in the same location.

It’s definitely not standard on the 25s anymore (recorder part), must have to have some other package now apparently. Really BS that they raise prices every year and pull some previously standard options like this.

Looking at the RPO guide for 2025 and comparing to the 2024, the code for the "Surround Vision Recorder" (RPO Code XVR) is completely missing. When you look at the 2024 guide, it mentions that the recorder was Standard on the blackwings and only included with super cruise on the base V.

I looked at the non-V guide as well - XVR is also missing.

Can anyone with a 25 5VBW that has an auto confirm that the SD card slot is also missing? It's possible they tied it to the Super Cruise but is not mentioned in the order guide - I don't know why they would have a section for it in the manual if it was completely removed in 2025.

Found a thread about it here:

It looks like the SD Card reader was removed from all Cadillacs that have moved to the new Google infotainment system. Some are saying that you can access the SVR by using a hidden voice command and then recording footage to a USB drive formatted in FAT32. Wild...

This is ridiculous. Decontenting has been a thing for years, but really? What are they saving, 12 bucks a car? A nice feature to have, especially for dealer visits or valet parking....or heaven forbid, an accident.

It's not the actual hardware cost they care about saving - it's the engineering development time it would have taken to build this feature into the new Google powered infotainment system.

This is all speculation on my part - but from what I understand, these cars essentially have two different back end networks to make everything work - a traditional CAN based network and an ethernet network. If that SD card reader was previously attached to CAN...and the new Google infotainment system can not "speak" CAN, it effectively broke the feature. They would need to develop a new way of recording footage to another storage device that speaks the proper protocol.

It's not only the CT5 that is being impacted by this - it seems that the 24+ Escalades, XT4's, and anything else that moved from CUE to Google also are missing the SD card. If there is enough backlash and complaints, GM could potentially develop the feature and push it out via a OTA update. Unfortunately, there is not much else that would force them to do this - they DID remove the feature from the order guide for MY25's. An argument would not be able to made saying they sold us something that wasn't included.

While my comment was based in sarcasm, thanks for your explanation, which is over my pay grade. Point is, you know it's most likely money verses technology.
