Taking pictures of your car

A friend of mine just bought a dark blue 1976 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. It only has 8000 miles on it and he paid $50k for it. We let him park in the garage since I am driving the 67' for the summer. He is not a Cadillac guy and he backed the car into the wall and blew a small hole in the sheetrock wall. NOW.....he is a Cadillac guy ! LOL !

This is going to sound stupid....but has anyone found good angles for the CT4V Blackwing? I feel like every picture I take doesn't do the car justice. I've been told multiple times when someone sees my car for the first time that it looks completely different (and better) than the photos I sent. I can't seem to find this car's glamour shot. And honestly looking over the forums, I know 99% of these cars look better in person. I think its the angles of the hood/sides/front that is hard to capture.
Try sneaking up on it so it doesn’t know you’re taking its picture.

Posts #7 and 16 look good. #7 shot #2 has the car framed with a disappearing set of lines. Looks great, draws the eye to the car. #16 shot #1 has a great angle, but maybe over expose it a little and play with something like lightroom to bring out some highlights, or get the sun over your shoulder to keep from losing detail in the grill

Am I really in a minority who thinks it looks fine from every angle? Maybe not OMGWHATACARRR, but it's not terrible. I also have a few photos of the back straight-on, just can't find them.

One of the great things about digital photography is the low cost of experimentation. I've taken a lot of meh pictures of the Blackwing. (But as others have noted, we love this thing enough to keep trying, despite the mockery and abuse it engenders from spouses.)

For a CF'd-up 4, it's hard to go wrong with a low-angle straight or oblique shot of the front end. And it helps to get lucky/intentional with lighting and atmospheric conditions.

I haven't had much luck with profiles. It might be, kinda, just a car, from the side.

Yep, great eye!

I got 2,600 miles on the car and had to see what it was made of. Track Night in America events are so perfect for a first outing. IMO it's a better car than my M2 Comp was, on and off track.
I love to hear this. I had been telling folks for a year or two before getting the CT 4 V BW that the M2 Comp was our likely next car. Since getting the BW I've at times had second thoughts as I'm still a big fan of the M2 (but not the new one)....mostly because of its slightly smaller size, looks and easier mod-ability. I imagine I might always wonder what if etc....though I am happy with the Caddy and mostly feel i made the right choice for a wide variety of reasons. Comments like yours help...lol.

i’m an amateur that started out with film and the only training being reading books on photography method. My thing is nature and some abstract, not cars, I suppose because I like to be exploring new places outdoors. With film one tends to spend more time honing their craft otherwise expenses can get out of hand and frustration can set in. I suspect that is why many in those days quit before they got half decent.

Digital is great but some of the incentive is missing for people who do not go to art school. If one is willing to spend the time reading books, I guess nowadays it would be videos and blogs, after a few years, massive improvement is possible. Despite what people think photography is a learned skill and one is not intuitively born with it.
