Spring Mountain Impressions

Everyone I dealt with at the track was friendly, competent and helpful. The instructors were very good. How they can drive quickly
and keep up a running commentary on your driving is amazing. We were on the North track. It is a fun little track with one short straight. The pace seemed slow but reviewing the PDR laps at home I hit 105 mph. Braking a little later would have added another 5-10 mph at the end of the straight.
The class room and lounge were plush. The breakfast bar was very good and dinner was good but not up to the price. The facilities are A+. More track time and less class time would be great. The CT4 BW suspension is just plain nuts. Even in the track setting with the TCS turned way down the
car stuck to the track like glue. Did not get to try the race setting. Maybe next time. The out of pocket cost for plane fare, rental car and one extra night in a motel was about what it cost for an HPDE week-end at a local track.

Just putting in a plug for the track photographer, ReVision Automedia. They do a great job getting photos of all the drivers on the track, and, it's not cheap, but the mounted prints are really nice.

guy was out there when I was doing day 2 in the rain, he was all hunkered down in his foul weather gear and shooting shot after shot and laughing at the faces we made at him when going by

If you don’t mind me asking, how expensive are the photos taken by the track photographer?

I think $175 with everything on a USB. Prints and displays seemed pricey.

I don't have the full price list. I paid $395 for a flash drive with all the photos of me/my car on the track (37 pictures plus the group photo of all the students & instructors) and a 12x18 acrylic mounted print. Price included shipping. I think it was around $200 for just the flash drive, but I could be off. Someone here will know. You can get larger acrylic prints as well.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
I was not looking for an exact number, just a ball park.
I will be at Spring Mountain March 3rd and 4th.

For an extra $50, they will give you the certificate saying that you were the "Auto-Cross" champion ! Your friends will never really know ! LOL !
(Just kidding. )
My group (mostly CT 4 guys)....in addition to myself....were very upset when I had to pull out of the class (due to COVID) at lunch during the second day. I had - by far - the best autocross times (for my group) in the preliminary runs and they were hoping I could take the crown. Unfortunately never got the chance.

It was actually only the 3rd time I had auto crossed a car. The first was at a Volvo pre-sale event (where they threw me out for driving too fast....LOL)....the second was with my BMW ZHP. A neighbor of mine was an instructor in an intermediate SCCA class of around 25 drivers. He had invited me to come up and watch and to drive my car on the course after the class. I did and in 2 runs managed the 5th best time in the class. He was very impressed. Maybe I'm just a natural....but it can't hurt that I drive like I do.
