Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

Should I buy a new one?

Sewell has 7 new CT5V-BW in stock right now, various levels of options, with a $1500 markup ("protection package" nonsense) that they'd probably waive if you pushed a little bit.
Personally, I don't ever pay for dealer addons. I bought 2 cars from Dustin and paid nothing. On my 5, he gave me a PPF track package and full ceramic tint at no cost, and this was in 2022 when many were paying over MSRP.

But the post I replied to said $15,000.00 over MSRP on a 2024!

Ditto. The exception was some stupid paint protection that presumably had already been applied and therefore could not be taken off, on my 2023 BW, which was otherwise MSRP and as a no-option stripper, didn't provide the dealer with as much profit as a loaded special edition might. And even at that, it was only two or three hundred dollars.

So, stupid me, I didn't even realize that we had a 6/70 powertrain warranty. That is somewhat reassuring.

As for the "massive failure rate" of the BW LT4, isn't that same engine also in the C7 Corvette Z06, sans the fancy valvetrain bits? I don't hang out in the C7 forum and so I don't know but I haven't heard of/read of a bunch of problems with that, unlike the LS7 in the C6 Z06 where the valves would do something bad.

Thanks all for the thoughtful contributions, I think I will just stick with my current car. For now I'm going to keep my spot on the list just in case something happens, but I'll likely end up giving my spot to @Goldfish.
My perception as a C7 Z06 owner is that the LT4 in them has been very reliable, with the main concern being the AFM components.

Also the same engine as the ZL1 Camaros. While there were oil pump issues with the Camaros, I don't remember reports of engine failures like I'm seeing here. Much greater volume there as well.

I got a call from The King last night, offering to move me up on the list since he had some unexpected allotments come up. We had planned for December or so for my order, so he was checking in. I couldn't give him a good answer. Here's my situation, I'd like some opinions from you guys and gals, please.

- Currently I own a 2023 6-Spd in black that I bought new a year ago. Black is killer for this car.
- 6500 miles, no issues.
- I will likely retire within 8 months, although I may get another job just to keep me off the streets.

I would prefer the (Rapid Red?) burgundy color and those fancy gold-ish wheels, but there are no options that I miss, I even like the base seats! No need for ceramic brakes, as I do not track the car.

A new car would give me more factory warranty. I do not do extended warranties.

I do not care for the new infotainment Imax-sized display/instrument panel.

So, these are not strong arguments for getting a new one. Plus there is the financial hit that I'll take selling an almost two year old car, and the crap shoot that is GM quality.

Thoughts, pro & con? Am I missing anything? And no, the new "styling" does nothing for me.

Thanks.

Looks like they have (9) 2024 CT5-V Blackwings. All automatic. I'm seeing a pattern here :ROFLMAO:

The problem is this is the pattern people want to see.

I was about to pull the trigger on a '24 that has been at a dealer for months (as far as I can tell). Gave me a price $6k under MSRP, told them I'd sleep on it, an hour later they told me it was sold.

🤬

NO!! You gotta be kidding me. So they had both Black Diamond Tricoats for months, and then sell both in 2 weeks. Sorry my Friend.

They texted back this morning and the salesman had it confused with another one they sold, lol. I put down a deposit, guess I gotta pull my 2025 deposit now...

Congratulations Nick! Same exact build as my Black Diamond Tricoat, but yours adds the wonderful carbon ceramic brakes. You landed a real whale! All carbon options + BDT, super rare build.

Hard to believe it was $6k under MSRP without even haggling much at all. Can't wait!
