Seat Belt Chime Disable

I'm with you, brother!

I ended up just using the clip-in style alarm silencers...

Where did you get it?

Part number?

This is a good compromise. No chime when you get in, but you can still buckle up.

This is what I do (or something similar, there are many such products). Would be better if GM allowed you to disable the chime like Ford does, though. Or if the aftermarket had an easy way to disable the chime, like on my Toyota.

No, I don't drive with the seatbelt unbuckled, but it drives me crazy to hear that noise when I unbuckle in my 20 mph residential street as I lean out to get the mail.

It's been awhile since I've done this but I thought all you had to do to disable the seatbelt chime was unplug the connector that goes to the seat belt?

If you look at the seatbelt receiver, there are two wires wrapped in a black wire protector. If you follow those wires for a few inches, you'll come to a connector where they hook into the wire harness. Unplug it. It's that simple. The chimes will stop.

I get the right to choose, but if I may state my .02

Look, wear your seatbelt. I walked away from this with nothing more than a soft tissue shoulder injury. (RIP my 1LE)
This is also the reason I wanted another GM Alpha platform car. I was really impressed with the safety.

Nope, don’t like them….sorry

They are pretty rare on Amazon. But if you google "ebay seat belt clips" or "seat belt alarm silencer" you should have some options.

I agree 100%, why would anyone wear a seatbelt
Perhaps they would like to not die in an accident, take a flight though the windshield, or have the air bag explode into their face or experience a litany of other possibilities resulting from unsecured passengers in a moving vehicle coming to a stop in a fraction of a second.

I'm a big believer in seat belts (and have come around on air bags after first - a long time ago - being a skeptic). I wear belts 100% in all cars now. But it wasn't always that way. Up until maybe 5-10 years ago I wouldn't wear my belts in our old classic Mustang. My wife constantly berated me about not wearing them. My response was - "this car will never be in an accident so why do I need to wear seat belts?" I've come around so everyone is happy now. And still no accidents for the Stang...

Waay back in the day when I was a youngster my dad had a friend who survived his MG being crushed be a semi. He wasn't wearing belts so was ejected and managed only minor injuries. A miracle....but very much an exception to the rule I think.

Plus with the Caddy your airbag deployment will give you a nice emblem tattoo. -Something to brag about to your friends.

Back in the day my stepbrother was ejected from a horrific crash in an old bug and would have likely been killed without that. But, I wear my seatbelt always. A habit from my private pilot days. I can guarantee if you don’t wear a seatbelt in a single engine aircraft you will get injured.

I don’t understand why people don’t wear seatbelts. I don’t even notice it’s on me. Do they actually believe it’s statistically safer to not wear one?

Here’s another thing to ponder. Would you drive a passenger that refused to wear a seatbelt?
