Of course with what was a month long backorder I suppose I should be happy to finally get an engine air filter. Probably going to cost $150 this time next month!!

Why not spend a few more for the green filters?
You know, I've been a big Green Filter fan. I had one installed in my 2017 ZL1, my 2021 GMC Sierra 1500, and currently have one in my 5BW. I had an Attack Blue filter in my C8.

Here recently, however, I've gone back to back to the paper OEM filter in my GMC and my C8, and I've got an OEM filter on order for my Blackwing. To be honest, I can't tell the difference between the Greens and OEMs. I think acceleration may even be smoother with the OEM filter. If nothing else, I know the engines are getting maximum filtration from the OEM paper filter.

Besides the minimal performance gains/losses, they're cleanable and reusable.

These cotton gauze type filters will always filter worse than OEM and a few hp (if any) is only gained at the very top of the rev range. While you are getting inferior filtering on every drive. Sure they are cleanable, but you have to buy a cleaning and oiling kit, spend time washing and PROPERLY oiling them. Its just not worth it. For most people, its a detrimental solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I stopped using K&N type filters for these reasons but they do provide better noises.

True. But having cleaned a few of them over the years, cleaning can be a PITA, especially when it comes to getting the right amount of oil on the filter. Toss and replace is much easier.

I bought a K&N out of desperation a month ago but really didn't want to have to use it as it seems people online are about 50/50 as to whether it causes issues with MAF sensor.

I've installed a bunch of oiled filters over the years and never had a MAF issue. Although I will say I got a K&N filter one time that was so over-oiled there was oil sitting in the bottom of the plastic wrap it came in. I put the filter on paper towels and let it air out for a few days before putting it in the air box. Never caused a MAF issue much to my surprise.

Don't they require cleaning and then oiling them? If so, a major PITA that makes them undesirable in my opinion. Don
My bad, should have looked at the rest of the thread and found the answer to my question.

I was under the impression most here do all their own maintenance. I just never thought cleaning and oiling filters was that advanced..

It’s not. If you can clean a toilet, you can clean a K&N filter. I ran one on my 72 Camaro, but not on modern cars.

Did you get this from a dealer? The only place I can find is an ebay seller, but it says delivery between 4/30-5/10 so I am assuming they are in line at some dealer just like everyone else. I have 27K on my original so trying to decide if i just wait or put in a K&N or Green

I just picked up two CT4 filters (you need two) for $9 ea. on closeout at RockAuto.

The CT5 filter is $50 at Summit Racing. Delivery is one month out. Don’t need one, but going to order one since I need other stuff from Summit anyway.

I've used K-N for years without any issues. I don't live in a dusty environment , but I have seen all the yellow pollen that gets caught in the oil. It takes me 20 minutes to wash and re-oil. I have only installed a K-N cabin filter in my 5BW. When the time comes to change my engine air filter , it will be a K-N.

Bought at a dealer. I've got an order with an eBay seller as well that was projected to arrive next week as of a month ago...
