Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

It's been a year now

I can only agree. Both cars are great, but very different to drive, much more so than just the sound of the V8 (I happen to think the 4BW TT sounds damn good). It is instant acceleration and torque vs. higher revving. I prefer the former, and will never understand those who say the 5 is too much. I guess if revving over 5k RPM on every gear shift is your thing, then yah, you can really only do that in 1st on the 5 Blackwing before jail time can come into play. But you can also be sitting at 2k RPM in 6th gear and immediately go without the need to downshift. That is why I love the LT4 and 5 Blackwing. The torque is intoxicating.
I totally agree...but I'm so spoiled torque wise with our GTI (and previous Audi) where the torque really hits you in the back and pins you to the seat. The 4 V BW has it (and its more noticeable after the MAF UG)....but it feels so easy and smooth in comparison. Not entirely a bad thing as I do like the linear acceleration characteristic as well...and its also deceptive....you're really moving even if (in comparison to our GTI) it doesn't as much feel as you are...

Okay, you piqued my interest, but never said what it was. What car do they not make brand new that you would like to buy?

A C7 Corvette lol. I want a front engine RWD, 2 seats manual sports car with 8 or more cylinders.

I have gone back and forth many times about getting a C7 Z06, but never pulled the trigger. You could get the Aston Martin Vantage with a manual transmission, but it's a completely different type of car.

Good suggestion...also Jaguar F Type?....though not sure they still offer MT (but nice V8).

The Vantage was the last vehicle to be produced with this format. I really wish they built it for more then two years. They are very very rare.

I loved my C7Z and at this point I would like it back but its difficult to find a car in the spec I want up here in Canada.

Would be a lot easier if there was a new option.

My dream car is a 2017 V12 Vantage S with the dogleg.

Manual was only available on the V6 (which still sounds good). I love F type R's, they sound amazing. Unfortunately the closest dealer is two hours away or I probably would have bought one over my C8.

Isn't there a variant of the mustang with no rear seat?

LOL, yeah, I don't consider it to be a sports car either.

I bought another C6 Corvette, because it's better than a C7. (Yes, I had one of those too.)

There's one for sale (mine) with only 8K miles. If you want a new one, there's one for sale with only 505 miles.

My GT350R had no backseats 👍🏼

I had the opportunity to drive a Mustang GT350 recently. Sounded FANTASTIC. And you had to rev it (which was fine, it wanted to be revved). So you can have both, V8 and high revving!

By the way, the GT350 owner then drove my 5BW and was stunned by how much torque it had down low, relative to the Mustang.

To be honest my CT 4 V BW feels like a GTI below 3500 rpm compared to my GTI....but thats another thing entirely...

.. nobody makes the car I want anymore brand new and I'm not willing to pay the current used car prices for anything I do like. Its also finanically irresponsible so If I kept the pace up I'd probably be stuck looking at Camry's in another 3 years.

We literally had a Camry rental last week and I was considering it. Though that thought has passed.

...

I also have to deal with winter and in the past I've always kept two cars for that purpose (or 3) but I just never drive the other vehicles much that it makes little sense to pay insurance, maintenance on additional vehicles I hardly drive. A Blackwing would make a poor winter car and I really don't want to buy a second vehicle again.

This is the stage of decision making I am in. We are about to go into winter season and won't defrost again until march. I don't want two cars and I don't want to daily a Subaru.

What to do. =/

Get a GR Corolla. Loads of fun, and AWD. :)

It also has no center arm rest and rev hang.

If I did need a second car I'd probably look at an Integra Type-S if I wanted a new manual or a used 2016-2018 340i xdrive with a manual (they do exist and sound great with the M performance package).

Otherwise I'd probably go pick up a used Stinger or even a Crosstrek Wilderness.

At the moment I plan to drive my C8 in winter and if I find a C7 Z06 similar to my old one I will buy it and then look at the above options for a second car.

I suppose I'm used to whatever rev hang there is, not something that gets in the way of the experience. And mine does have a center arm rest, simple and common aftermarket solution.

I really like the ITS as well, but it's larger and more refined. Just a different experience, almost boring, not what I was looking for.

I think it would remind me too much of an STI? I have 2 and one is a hatchback.
It's been so long since I've driven an STI. I would think that the raspy 3 cylinder of the GRC would make it sound and feel a lot different than the boxer, but not sure.

I test drove an STI before buying the BW. A coworker has one, loves it. I found it to be very loud and the throttle was a bit of an on/off switch. Either you're just puttering along like an old man or you're balls to the wall. There is no in-between.

Great fun, but not for me, surely not as a daily.

It took me 3 tries before I figured out what ITS was. It gets great reviews, I just wish it was RWD.

I guess I'll just stick with what I have until (or hopefully, only if) it does something to piss me off.

I went through a '24 Corolla GR Premium to a '24 Integra Type S (just for the greater interior room to haul my wife and two kids) to selling the ITS all in the matter of a year.

Honestly, both cars were very nice and very fun to drive. I actually enjoyed the GR a bit more for tossing around town, but it's rear interior and cargo room are very limited. Integra was nearly as fun, but much more of a complete car with real back seat room and a large cargo area. Nicer interior too at the expense of a bit of dynamic fun.

I ultimately sold both cars because 60% of the time I just wanted to drive my 5BW and any mileage I was keeping off the BW was expensive to have an entirely extra car just for alternating weekend duty. So, I decided it wasn't worth the cost to keep some miles off the BW and now I just drive the BW mostly on the weekend.

All that said, the GR turbo triple is such a fun, nice engine. 25psi WEEEEEEEEEE. AWD=zero grip issues. Also, it's high speed stability was amazing. Like one handed 125mph sweepers on the highway, etc. Top speed 145mph, one hand on the wheel. The ITS moves around a bit more at speed.
