I despise security lug nuts and had no idea the Blackwing was coming with them. I want them off, meaning I need four replacements. Anyone got the part number handy for the standard almost-chrome-but-not-quite lug nuts on the 5BW? I see a couple of options on sites like gmpartsgiant, etc; just want to make sure I get the right ones.

Thanks.

On delivery it should have regular lug nuts and the security ones in the trunk. Maybe the dealer installed the security ones and then tossed out the other ones or maybe they’re in the trunk.

I replaced mine with McGard black chrome.

I'm guessing he did the former; they're nowhere to be found in the trunk, glove box, or any of the car's storage.

Part Nos is 9597846 and the Stealership list price is $13.48 apiece and it extends to 4 for $58.10 w tax. Crazy pricing.

This is for my CT4-V BW but I think the studs are the same so the nuts will be also. Ask me how I came to have 4 extra nutz? On my first oil change they wanted to do a tire rotation and I couldn't for the life of me find my key to the lock nutz. So I told them to just skip the rotation. When they finished the oil change I stopped by parts and parted with $58.10 to pick up 4 regular nutz. When I got home and got the torque wrench out I realized I didn't have lock nutz on my CT4-V BW. I was thinking about my recently traded 2018 ATS-V which did have the dreaded lock nutz. As I garage my car, I hate those locking nutz as the key is just something else to lose. Although I know you didn't need the whole story that is how I have a receipt for the Nutz with the part number in my file and 4 nuts in my hand.

Thanks, I saw that lug on gmpartsgiant but they require you buy a bag of 10 of them. If my local dealer is open on the holiday tomorrow, I'll check with them.

I wanted the OEM black lugnuts and found them on eBay for a good deal. But there are many listings for the standard "chrome" version.

Local dealer had 4 of them: $50 with taxes included. Good 'nuff for me. No more security lugs.

I been researching this and found something interesting about the OEM lug nuts I wasn't expecting; they're not the stupid sheet metal-wrapped lug nuts like my C6 Z06 came with. I put McGard 64012 (M12 x 1.5) on my Z06 and they're great.

Meanwhile I'm getting Satin Graphite wheels on my 5BW and want black lug nuts but did not order the factory ones because I had assumed they would suck and was planning on getting McGard 64074 (M14 X 1.5). But the OEM ones actually look nice!

The GM part number for a set of 20 is 85553528. Looks like they're engraved with the torque spec. It's not difficult to shop around and find them for a lot less than the $275 MSRP.

Are you going with the black OEM locks or not worried about theft?

The last time I used wheel locks was back when I had a 2000 SS Camaro. And it didn't take time for me to ditch them. Plus I have a garage to park my toys in...

(I guess I might reconsider if I had carbon fiber or titanium wheels!)

My hatred of locking lug nuts come from when I was a wee tot, looking to buy a used Jaguar. The dealer wanted to put new tires on it, but they couldn't find the key for the nuts and had to break the wheels to get them off of the car. So four new wheels, which I didn't like, and which bumped up the price of the car, so I didn't buy it.

I would not buy lug nuts off of eBay unless you enjoy having substandard Chinese quality parts holding your wheel to the car. Spend a little bit of money and get genuine parts. Or better yet, as I did with a Porsche long ago, get some beautiful titanium lug bolts for only a few hundred dollars. Reduce that unsprung weight, ya know.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I am ordering a spare set for my 2022 4BW. When I looked them up on the Cadillac Accessories page, it lists PN 85553528. So then I searched all the online sources to get the discounted prices, every one comes back with that PN as Does not fit your vehicle. So I look for the PN that they claim does fit, and it's PN 84639994. Seeing this discussion, I checked what the PN would be for a CT5 BW and it says PN 85553528. So it implies the lug nuts are different between the 4 and 5. The image of the 994 nuts shows a silver band at the mating surface at the wheel, but the 528 does not. My original ones are all black like 528. I guess I need to call the dealer to see what the difference is. The 994s are little cheaper and tend to be in stock at more places.

EDIT: I cancelled the 84639994 order and going with 85553528. GMPartsDirect, $191 + $13 shipping.

I agree about buying OEM but disagree about ebay; I've bought plenty of genuine GM parts there. If the lug nut I got is a fake, it's a really good fake.

For those with the McGards: Are they of the same quality as the OEM nuts? Any difference in weight?
I have not seen the OEM black lug nuts and never thought to weigh them. If you want lightweight ones get Titanium. I have McGard black lug nuts on my Jeep for 6 years and there are no issues with plating. On my 5BW for 2 years. Made in USA.
