2023 CT4 V blackwing

I made the right choice ;) That thing is ugly as sin.

PS: I am of the belief that the CT4 V blackwing competes more with the M2 size and price wise. I was also genuinely considering the M2C and only gave up because they stopped making them at that point.

It's crazy it's over 3800lbs with 2drs and RWD.

I owned a bunch of BMW's, including a 1999 M3, 2011 135i MSport, 2020 X3M, but they have completely changed the idea of the good-looking performance car. Their most recent cars are butt ugly and have way too much tech for the sake of tech (see iDrive 8). Maybe I'm just getting old, but the brand has left me colder with each new release. Cadillac has gone the complete opposite, and has knocked it out of the park recently with their styling, performance and judicious use of tech. At least for the short term...

You can kind of tell the design department has been given the brief to design something that looks at home driving through a hyper-futuristic neon cityscape like Shanghai in the year 2035 while the TRON soundtrack plays in the background. Not my deal but I'm sure they'll sell. :)

I shed tears at the sight of the new M2. I have a 2021 M240i which is a very nice looking car that represents the best of what the brand used to be. Understated elegance mixed with good performance and balanced driving dynamics. This new M2 looks like they cross bred a Dodge nitro with a Mitsubishi starion. Even uglier than the M3 and M4.

It's funny the new generation of every model they are releasing is significantly worse than the one it replaced. They are all extremely bloated, have lost touch with driving engagement, and are impossible to service at home. They have also tried to make a statement with their new design language but totally missed the mark of their prior understated elegance.

BMW is turning into the Louis Vutton of cars, chasing after the mass market while trying to convince that mass market that they are still exclusive luxury cars. Most of their new models look trashy and appeal to people who aspirationally think they are luxury items when they are just uncouth and no longer the best driving cars in their respective class. It's a very sad day as the last small car they hadn't messed up has now also just now been destroyed. Short term profit chasing is going to really hurt this brand in the long run.

Wow, look at that clown car. 🤡

BMW is no longer capable of making good looking vehicles. What a shame.

Looks might be subjective and I am not going into it. But weight (its heavier than a similar M3) and iDrive 8 infotainment (on a performance vehicle) is definitely a deal breaker for me.

Is it wrong that I kinda like it?
Not at all. It's heavy and its interior is a bit naff, but it will undoubtedly be a heckuva drive. But how much different is it now to an M4?

They kept the base price down, but now everyone has to option the CF roof to get rid of the stupid hole in the standard roof and like a 4BW or RS3 can see loads of them getting into the $70ks.

What don't you like about iDrive 8? I've never used it, just curious. The prior version, maybe 2 versions ago in my wife's 2019 BMW is unintuitive and slow and I hate it, but it does have wireless CarPlay which solves a lot of issues.

Lack of physical buttons and way it was integrated on to the dash (looks like a cheap design solution). Screen and resolution looks great but it totally looks out of place in a performance vehicle. This was a main reason i rushed into placing an order for a MY22 and didnt spec it with an individual color with the fear of the order being pushed to MY23.

Let it sink in that a Camaro SS, hell even the Mustang GT weigh less then this. Pony/muscle cars, known for being a bit on the hefty side in terms of weight and size are lighter then an M2, which is tiny.

What a time.

Looks like they grafted in an old Dodge sedan center grille and then just went more weird after that.
