My CT4-V Blackwing Collector Series

@Mirza Grebovic , I just received another text & email that it's throwing more codes. I guess that switching sides with the MAF sensor didn't work either. This is crazy to have to go thru this with a brand new vehicle!

The more codes might be because dealer is not reseting and they are just root causing. Can you send me private message with VIN, and dealership details please?

You got it. The dealer is working under the direction of GM Engineers.

@Mirza Grebovic , I just heard from the dealership and the current call to action is to replace both turbo chargers.
Really ?? I can't see that working but then again, they know more than I do. I hope they're right. Its going to take a couple of days to do it. I had the turbo's replaced on my vsport because they sounded like a garbage disposal when I kicked them in.

Apparently, there’s another one out there somewhere that had the same or a similar problem and replacing the turbos remedied it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I just want to be able to enjoy this car at some point. 😡

I'll still keep researching just in case. I want you to enjoy the car too so don't get to bummed out, I'm sure they'll get it right.

I keep thinking about your problem and the only thing I can think of is, if the other car that had this problem and they changed the turbo's, maybe the problem was not the turbo's but maybe everything they had to disconnect and reconnect when they installed the turbo's. In doing all the work actually fixed the problem and the turbo's that were removed was actually still good.
I don't know why your problem has me thinking and researching more and more to understand why the turbo's could be the problem. I'll figure it out if it's the last thing I do... :hb :happyanim:

I tend to agree with you and so does the former GM Master Technician, who now works for the same company that I do, who I've been discussing my case with. He's not yet aware of the turbos being replaced. I'll let him know about that on Monday morning. It'll be interesting to see and hear his reaction. Who are we to second guess the GM Engineers tho? I just want this resolved and I have to let it play out on their terms. I'm happy to provide you with a distraction from your health battle. I think that I can speak on behalf of the entire board when I say that I hope that you have many years of enjoyment of your Blackwing and life in general left.

Thank you very much !!! It means a lot and you're right about distractions, it does help but I also love cars in general especially these cars so I'll keep working on this. And I do like helping people and I want you to enjoy this car as much as I am with my BW.
Take care and have a great weekend,
Tom

If anyone watches CarTrek, they had an episode where they bought used Ferraris, and one had a an airbag issue. The "Wizard" recommended buying and recovering a replacement seat as the cheaper option to tracking down and replacing the defective part...

I suspect that GM's position is probably that it might not be the turbo- but if they take it all apart to track down the issue, and are unable to find a different cause? Labor costs being what they are, it'll be significantly more expensive if they end up having to go back in because they determine it is the turbo. I'd bet they just ship the turbos back to the manufacturer and even if they test good, GM gets a core credit of some sort anyway.

Any word today ???

I just reaponded to him privately. We are on it and turbos were never replaced, its turbo solenoids possibly which are right in top of engine and no tear up needed. Anyhow, handling it privately with him.

ok, Thank you !!

Hey Jeff, this might just be Cadillac's way of making sure we get to enjoy our cars together at the same time hahaha.....sorry to make jokes bud. couldn't resist.

Alls well that ends well. The fix (a cracked elbow fitting for a vacuum line to the wastegate solenoid) ended up being something rather simple that was rather difficult to diagnose.

I'm really glad you got this taking care of being it's the wife's car. Keep her happy and you'll be happy as well.
