2025 CT5-BW, 2022 CT4-BW (Sold)
I'm sure some of the people have seen my post in other threads but here is the story for other members.......

Friday night, while browsing Cargurus, I saw that local dealer has 2025 CT5-BW listed so I emailed them, expecting that it is most likely a pre-sold unit. Next day I went to see a Jaguar P-Face 575 SVR (preowned) as that was vehicle I was originally planning to purchase. While at the dealership I received a reply from sales person from Cadilllac dealer that CT5-BW is still available. So I thought that before I make a purchase I would just go check it out. So I went to the dealership and sales guy pulled up the vehicle, it was still in the same condition as it came of the truck and on the window that that the typical list of "add-ons and protection package". I drove the vehicle and told the sales person that I wasn't planning to but if he will do retail + TT&L, I will buy it today. As usual back and forth ensued with his manager who wanted to me to get at some "protection" package but after some time he agreed to agreed on no addon and just straight retail + TT&L + doc fees.

Once paperwork was presented, before I went to finance, I saw that they had removed everything except for $299 charge for ETCH (which i was told etches VIN on all windows). I told them that I do not want to pay for it. Also since it is not done, they should just take it off. I was told that don't worry, we will take care of it. Went through rest of the process, brought the car home. Next day, I was looking at my financing paperwork and sure enough that charge was still there. Called my sales guy and he told me that he will talk with his manager.

On Monday, I got a call from the dealership telling me to bring the car back as they have not completed a recall and they cannot mark the vehicle as sold until they do. So took the vehicle back and again reminder them about the ETCH charges. I was told that we can discuss it when I come to pick up the vehicle. So I went today to pick up the vehicle, and spoke with the General Sales Manager, who straight out told me that he will not do a refund because BW was not supposed to be sold without "packages" or "market adjustments" and he has already notified his sales team.

I asked him if he is willing to lose a customer of a $100K+ vehicle for $300 and he straight out told me that he cannot refund the ETCH but can take the car back. So I told him to do that..... 10 mins later I was back at Finance and they refunded me the deposit and gave me a ride back home.

Long story short...... what started as a great buying experience (sales person was great!) ended up being my worst.... on one of the most expensive vehicle purchase to date.

I imagine you did not adhere to the break-in procedure on the way back to the dealer, and nobody will blame you.

Sorry for this dreadful experience.

If I had known that I was taking car back for the last time..... I would probably have more fun but in this case, I only took it back for an open recall, which turned into a fiasco.

He has another buyer for it that is willing to pay a mark up guaranteed.
Yes, my sales person made a comment when I was dropping off the vehicle the other day...."I got a call from California for this car and you wouldn't believe what he was willing to pay for it".

With that said, I like the sales person and he was very upfront about the whole process so this wasn't his doing. It was the New Cars Manager and GSM.

Is Cadillac still giving 2 free days at Spring Mountain for new purchases? If so, I'm not sure if give up the car over a $300 add-on (which in some cases yields a small insurance discount).

These aren't the cars you want to make a matter of principle stand on. There are a lot of determined buyers. There is no leverage.
These are regular cars not special editions in limited quantities. I can always order another one or buy used.

I'm sorry you didn't get the car and that you were jerked around....BUT, if I really wanted this car, I would have made a big stink, yelled and screamed, but would have paid the 300. That said, I get principle. If it was a Camry, yeah, F them, walk away. A 5BW I really wanted, I'm not sure. Something just doesn't sound right to me. If all the paperwork was done, AND you took it home, I'm not sure it can be reversed, unless they never processed the paperwork and hatched this insane plan.

I don't think they processed the paperwork because according to the person who called me to get the recall done, he told me that they cannot close the transaction until the bulletin is completed.

Do you want to call the GSM to confirm my story? I can give you his name and number :)

Sounds like a 2026 model with blind spot monitoring in your preferred color is in your future. Congrats on sticking to your guns and for sharing your story. Other people need to be warned about dealerships that behave this way so they can avoid them.

No, brother. I don't mean any disrespect. I think like someone else said, they must have been "working" a deal with someone else. It's just a complete 💩 move on their part. With this story, they've lost more than one customer......tell everyone you know!

Go order your 2026 and get it exactly the way you want.

Any idea when the order banks will open?

Usually July, but GM being GM???? It could be August. Then, who knows when production starts, and then it has to be shipped. Hense, the goat rodeo

Damn man. That shit sucks. Had you already registered the car in your name?

I honestly don’t understand how they could have let you take the car home without you and then having signed a contract and a bank putting up a loan… unless you paid cash, in which case I guess I could see them wiring the money back to you and THEN you giving the car back.

You obviously didn’t really want that car, which I get because it wasn’t exactly what you’re looking for. If it was, you wouldn’t let it go over $300, not when you’re spending well over 100k.

I had a similar situation where the finance guy insisted that the Ikon GPS was standard on all of the cars they sell. A few days after buying the car I decided to follow back up because the salesman had told me he took it off. I told them I didn’t want it, and I’d like a refund even if only in credit towards accessories. The salesman called me back and said I could toss it in the trash, and they would cut me a check since I paid in cash.

Had the dealership told me that they wouldn’t give me the refund, I would’ve said alright, can’t blame me for trying… and kept the car because it is exactly what I want. I paid three grand over MSRP after talking them down from charging 10k over. But no way in hell I’m giving up driving my dream car over $300!

You’re a man of extremely strong principals my friend. At one point in negotiations I told the salesman that I could just order a new one. He said sure, if I’m willing to wait at least a year if not more to have the exact one I want built. I am not willing to wait that long when this one has everything except the bronze wheels. I just bought some bronze wheels and I’ll have a winter set and a summer set which I’d have needed anyhow.

I 100% see both sides. I've walked over $50 literally on principle. But, those a-holes had another buyer lined up and hoped you backed out of the transaction. :( Screw 'em. These cars are relatively rare, but not THAT rare. :) Order a '26 the way you want it from Sewell at list with no BS add-ons.
