This is embarrassing, but removing the battery has been a nightmare. I pulled up the carpet in the trunk, those push pins were nasty. I am struggling mightily getting the plastic sheath off of the positive terminal. I have pulled the tabs on the plastic on both sides. Had to use an allen key since my hands are too big. And I removed what I thought were the nuts holding it down. I can wiggle it a bit now, but I'm terrified to force it and break it. I'll attach a pic, but has anyone done this themselves? My battery is dead dead and calling to get this towed would be ridiculous.

I haven't trted but from what I've seen, it's not user friendly. Good luck. Don

I had to jump my FJ the other week and I was puzzled under the hood. I had to go back home and look at the manual...

Why would you remove it just for being dead? You can use the lugs under the hood to jump/booster box or connect a charger. I installed a NOCO on board battery maintainer under the hood. Can't even tell its there when not in use.

How did you install the battery tender under the front hood? I am referring to the little loops on the tender. I know I can aligator clamp them both but then the hood will be propped open since the red/positive post is in an odd spot, and the clamp sticks straight up. The negative post is way to big for the little eyelets

You can remove the black plastic shroud on the positive jump terminal. It's just two plastic clips. With that off, you can put a tender on and then close the hood.
