Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

I plan on ordering the puddle lights too. I am still waiting 3 months for my Cadillac accessory ice chest/cooler. I am amazed at how much they want for a stupid vinyl decal. If just one person buys the decal kit, Cadillac made a 1000% profit ! My brother is heading out to our summer home for New Years Eve. I will ask him to start up my 5BW and let it run for 15 minutes. I haven't seen it in a month.

I always have to creep and angle my GTI jut to get out of my driveway and onto the road....and it still scrapes a bit. I'm glad the BW isn't too low (and I'm never lowering it). Both our Audi S4 and the GTI are lowered a good bit...and I love the look and the lowered center of gravity etc....but it does limit you.

Several of my buddies and I have a vineyard up in the hills. Its up a mile long dirt driveway over the mountain - that is very rough (understatement). I can usually - but not always - manage it - going very very slow and very very carefully. Once a rock cracked my oil pan on the Audi (big mess) which is why I put steel panzer plates under the engine bay on both cars - and they have saved me big time. I often opt to take our Mustang up to the vineyard - due to the clearance - if its a nice day and I don't have to haul too many tools and supplies or such.

My ex brother-in-law once tore out a bunch of stuff from his lower engine going over tank caps in a gas station in his old Saleen Mustang (which was very low)....ouch.
You don't have to be overly careful with BW's they are actually fairly high off the ground the only area that really hits are the lower air skirts for the brakes? Not a big deal

Been a busy month but I installed tapout downpipes, ported TB, & brisk spark plugs on my 4BW. Also had my ECM unlocked from HP tuners & remote tuned through tapout. Has been an amazing experience & now we are just working on different octanes! I love my 4BW all over again ... it really needed the bump in power IMO.

Sadly I took no other pictures lol But ill take some when I install the fuel cam & HPFP. I have them sitting in my garage, but I'm waiting until i get bored of 91...which I'm sure will be soon ahaha

Very curious about your results as I also live in California with crummy 91 octane.

Thinking about doing a Cam and eventually Group B unlock for a Blended E tune.

Are you able to get any 60-130 times on your Gas tune for reference?

I love it, and by looking at the data logs, the car loves it too. I have easy access to 100 oct so we are working on a 95 oct blend right now. But even the 91 tune is worth it since you can easily retune for E when you do those mods.

I have no official 60-130 times but looking at my data logs, 2 in particular where I purposely did a 60-130, 3rd to 4th gear (im a 6 speed)... 10-10.5 seconds on the 91 tune. No brake boosting & not sure if starting in 2nd would get a better time. Again though, this is from my data logs looking at time & speed.

took it to the dealer for some stuff --

oil change/general service @17.5k miles

recall for wire harness performed - mine had no issues apparently

ordered a replacement driver side tail light that is collecting moisture when wet

happy friday

Wow. Where did you get that car cover?

Ordered a Black Satin cover from CarCover.com 60% off + 20% off with code
for the CT5V-BW that I have not even ordered yet. My old satin one for my Gen 3 CTS-V fits my current CT4V-BW remarkably well. If this new cover is even 1/2 as nice, it's an unbeatable deal for $130 w/ free shipping.
I have no affiliation to this vendor. I just like a good deal, and keep my car covered most of the time.

So I haven't been on here for a bit, lots of catching up to do.
So I didn't get to order my car and dealer ordered bronze wheels which I love but unfortunately bronze calipers also. They just get lost back there so I decided to do something about it.
I purchased a kit from G2 on Amazon in red. Cost is $70 including link.

G2 High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint System Set RED G2160 - High Gloss https://a.co/d/2qvR9tk

Paint uses a catalyst, paint can has room just pour into can and stir. Toss the brush set included. A decent set of brushes on Amazon was $7-9.
Clean, clean, clean is imperative. Kit only comes with 1 can of brake cleaner. Due to size of calipers I played it safe and ordered 2 kits.
Calipers are easy to disassemble, but tough to remove.
10mm bolt on center pin, remove bolt then pull pin. A small punch to remove upper and lower pins along with spring clip.
Pop hood a keep an eye on your master cylinder as you need to compress calipers to slide pads out.
Drivers side on my 5 had pad monitor slide it towards center before pulling that pad. Keep track of inside/outer pad orientation.
T30 torx on hub, remove it to remove rotor. If you have iron rotors be prepared they are not light. Bolts holding calipers to hubs are 18mm and very tight. You may feel it's not important to gain complete access, your call. I did, I have the proper tools.
I did put one bolt in very loose to allow me to move it as necessary.
After thorough cleaning I taped off piston face area and pad contact area. I scuffed calipers with 360 grit paper and cleaned again with prep-sol. Follow instructions for mixing.
Pot life for paint seems shorter than stated. I only got 2 decent coats. I had leftover and was starting to thicken a bit. Maybe could have gotten a coat on rears but I hadn't prepped them yet.
Left them alone over weekend and they flowed out and smoothed out brush marks. Never be as smooth finish as factory powdercoat but behind the wheels I think it will really be that noticable.
After fully dried I applied heat resistant vinyl V emblem stickers I found on eBay for $12. If in time they fail/lift/fade I will get stencil of design and use black caliper paint.
My labor and under $200 out of pocket. Cheap experiment. Now I need to find red key fob covers😎
I know it's a long post but trying to be thorough. Now for the pics.
Comments, questions welcomed.
I tried a couple of times to load them in order but failed.
My dog Blue was hanging out with me but had to send him in the keep the hair out.

Top of the page. Code is USA20
They are two different vendors:
1) www.carcovers.com ($184.95)
2) www.carcover.com ($127.99) after USA20 discount

-------------

I just ordered and received one from carcover.com and for only $127.99 it's a darn nice cover, albeit not a snug, tailored fit like @ernsteeng's. It still does the intended job. That said, had I known what I know now, I would pay the extra money for the more tailored cover, but that's just me.

Vredsteins - good choice!

I got some tires (Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4) so I can actually drive it without fear of death because it's too cold out 😂.

Installed Falken Azenis FK 460 A/S tires on my stock rims. Moved the Michelins to the new set of Apex VS-5RS satin black wheels for Summer use. Recoated the inside of the wheels with 303 Graphene since it's been a year already and cleaned up the calipers. I'll be working on modifying an extra set of Cadillac center caps to fit the Apex wheels in the next few weeks.
