What are you willing to pay?

The Blackwing itch has afflicted me. Spent the better part of today looking for it in Texas. Some are expected at dealerships, or so they say. Most of them are asking 25k over MSRP.

I know it is a nice car, but is it that nice? What are you willing to pay over MSRP before it becomes a bending over scenario?

A dozen donuts. The only reason dealers try to do this BS is because people capitulate. How can you trust someone not to screw you again when the car comes in after they’ve already shown you they will screw you once? It’s just a car, life goes on.

Absolutely nothing. I have lived many years without a BW, I can survive another 4-6 months without one. If the dealership was charging over MSRP to place an order or buy off the lot, I would go somewhere else.

I would pay zero. There are enough dealers around who will sell at MSRP. Several that I know of in MI

Yea, technically my dealership isn't selling at MSRP, because they force you into an "Essential Protection Package" for $1495. But that is for EVERY Cadillac at their dealer, it's not a BW thing to get more money. And to be fair, most of the items in that package are things I would be getting anyway. So I don't really consider that the same thing.

This is what I've been debating the last couple of days. I also know mine will NOT be built for 2022. So, I'd have to reorder for 2023 and the goat rodeo resets and starts again.

It frosts my ass to pay over list. That said, I was looking at a 2021 M5, 10k miles, CPO, gorgeous. Priced a bit high IMO, then add on the dealer "every car we sell has it" crap, and the number really ballooned up. I can buy a BW (which is what I really want) and literally pay over MRSP and the BW would be cheaper. No carbon, but everything else.

So, it shakes out like this. Buy an incoming unit at $5k or $10k over and have a BW, or keep looking for an M5 (or whatever), or wait and order a 2023 and wait until Oct, Nov, Dec or next year for it to arrive. Plus, if prices go up $5k on a 2023, I might be Even Steven.

I've never heard someone try to pronounce MSRP as a word before.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for your input, I was almost ready to pay the 20-25k. Your comment whipped me back into reality. Mean while found a well spec’d 2022 M5 competition at MI-surp ( now that’s funny). I think I’ll get that to satisfy the itch for now.

You’re gonna love it. I picked mine up in late January, 2k below Mess-RP (that’s how we pronounce it here) 😂
