Nope i've done this before on another vehicle. Very easy. Pro tip if you adjust your mirrors all the way inward you can just use your fingers to pop them off.

Are the carbon fiber mirror caps for the V3 still available through GM?

I'd rather get the OEM one's then an aftermarket set since I'd have to ship everything over from the states, easier for me to just buy from the GM parts counter at my local dealer. However I can't find the GM part number, all I can find are aftermarket one's.
