V-Series Cadillac(s)?
2022 CT5-V Blackwing
Are the rock guards noticeably different between the 4BW and 5BW. Photos are of my infrared 5BW and an electric blue 4BW that was at the dealer when I picked up my car. The 4BW seems like it would block more. The reason I ask is that after my 35 mile drive, a fair amount of sand and small pebbles kicked up and got caught between the door sill and CF edge. Should the 5BW have a wider rock guard to prevent this?

I've not noticed that yet but I'm going to drive mine a lot tomorrow so I will check for sure.

Wish mofos in front of me had rock guards. :(

Makes me glad that I got mine protected. It wasn’t inexpensive but, there’s only 1 factory installed windshield. I’ve experienced wind noise etc… after having a windshield replaced. I’d much rather replace the protective film. Clearplex is one brand. Stek makes it as well.

I can't use film on my windshield. The slightest amount of distortion will give me vertigo. Thankfully SC is one of the few no deductible states by law no matter how many times it breaks, so no real reason for me to put film on it. Plus this is only the second time it's ever happened. What states have free windshield replacement?

Pain in the ass tho.

I guess you will make sure you get the right quality windshield that will not affect the HUD. Is there a requirement to get the camera system recalibrated?

Hoping that you have a good install.

Thats going to be an expensive repair especially if you go through Safelight. They quoted me 3800. to replace my windshield on my VSport.

The film now seems like a bargain.

That's weird.

I am getting it repaired through Safelite. The quote for oem replacement is $1300 and for non-oem is $1000.

Like I said in SC law dictates that insurance pays for the whole thing without deductible or dinging my premium, so State Farm is paying for the oem replacement. Still, it's nowhere near the price you mentioned, and that's with a HUD compatible windshield and camera calibration included.

That's awesome your states rocks like this....LOL

Never knew this. FL also one of them. Maybe that's part of why insurance is so absurd here.

Its probably a California thing where they think money grows on trees.

Are our windshields the same as a regular CT5?

I believe your insurance is absurd because of all the senior drivers over there. I found out when I was visiting that because there's so many car accidents, it's an automatic 50/50 responsibility to reduce court cases. That means if innocent old you is parked at a red light, and someone slams into your rear end, you're 50% responsible 😂

FL has the worst drivers of anywhere I've lived. Everyone either goes 20 over or 20 under the speed limit.

So I put on some rock/splash guards on the CT5.

Basically inspired by the Tommy Garage rock guards that I bought for my wife’s X3M.
He made a nice little video on them.

Anyway people on the X3m forums we’re talking about how much they liked them but one person said that basically he just gets the super cheap 18 dollar ones on Amazon and cuts them and drills them and supplies the rivets and up charges them 1000 percent.

I tried to see it there were ones for the CT5 in a similar form but didn’t see any so I just bought the cheapo ones off Amazon and cut and drilled them myself.

Basically there are 2 torx screws on the rear fender that can come out easily with a T4 Allen key and then I used a paper template to map out where I should drill some holes in the flap and cut the flaps to a reasonable shape. In the rear I probably could have gone much shorter but they are the same distance off the ground as the fronts.

For the front there is already a plastic small guard held by a single T4 screw. I wanted to use this screw to secure the front flap but it’s too short. I could have probably bought some longer ones to hold it but was too lazy. So decided to see if 3M double sided tape will hold it as the rear spoiler is just secured this way. For the front flaps you have to cut down much of the material on the inside or else it won’t clear the wheels at full lock. Also I placed excess trimmed flap pieces to level the surface on the preexisting front guard so the flap will sit evenly. I placed them to extend on the sides to cover the tread but not the sidewall.

I haven’t lost one yet and I’ve taken her up to some..decent… speeds.
