Is there a way to pop the trunk in a 6MT 4BW without turning off the engine?

Per the owners manual:
"Manual Trunk
To release the trunk, the vehicle must be off
or the shift lever must be in P (Park)."

It's not uncommon that I'm dropping off, say, a kid at school with a backpack in the trunk. It feels wrong to have to turn the car off to pop the trunk.

Answer is in the question, no?

"... or the shift lever must be in P (Park)."

Kinda hoping there will be an unpublished method, discovered by the brain trust here.
