Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

I am not sure I love my 5BW

I not sure we can really say Blackwing is heavy or "a lil pig of a car" when everything else in the class is within 50lbs. There's a huge difference between being a 275lbs 5'4 couch blob and a 275lbs 6'4 NFL Defensive End and a 275lb 5'7 power lifter.

In a day where safety regulations dictate door cross braces, evap systems, no less than four airbags, and in a luxury car power everything I don't know that BW is fat, it's just big and powerful. I can't think of anything short of a supra significantly lighter. A Darkhorse Mustang tips the scales at 3,913lbs with a manual. 5BW is just 200lbs more with 2 whole more doors, acoustic glass, ect... 4BW is a 100lbs lighter.
As always, beautiful stated...

It's a "lil" heavy, just like everything else nowadays. I was just re-using the pejorative thrown around earlier in the thread.

OP @thefleshrocket almost a year since this post was started and wondering how your feelings have changed? My biggest concern about the car is it’s sheer size/weight. Have you gotten used to it? Funny about the power as I felt that way about my Chevy SS, but it was down over 200hp this the BW and only a few hundred pounds lighter. Nice garage btw- love 996’s and the Terminator Cobra’s.

Honestly, it's not that heavy by modern standards. But I think it feels larger than other heavier vehicles because of its wheelbase, but not necessarily because of its weight. The turning radius is rather short, the steering is weighted on the heavier side (and rightfully so as a sports sedan capable of 200mph). There's only 263~ lbs difference between a 4BW which is much more nible.

None of this is a big deal to me. It feels solid when you shut the doors, it drives like a solid vehicle. Alot of Japanese manufacturers that are much heavier feel like tin cans when you shut the door. It has nothing to do with safety or weight. Much like the weight of a low end plastic pay as you go phone compared to the weight of an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy Ultra.

I have an easy remedy. Swing by your BMW dealer in a few months for a test drive of the new 5,400-pound M5. Then hop back in your 5BW and voila!

I had a 2016 Chevy SS and my 4BW is certainly faster in every regard and gets better mileage. Wouldn't want to go back. In any event, an idot out of control driving his sisters beater of a Honda gave me a head on,totalling the car. Don

I firmly believe that a significant part of the "feel fast" issue is just having a big, heavy (by fast car standards) car around it. I've been in a lot of cars, high power stuff, etc, and not much "feels" fast like a 300hp miata. I went from my turbo miata into a c7, and with nearly double the power it still didn't feel as fast despite clearly actually being much faster.
I have a different miata now with just over 200hp, and it "feels" damn near as fast as my 4BW despite obviously being slower.
The opposite end of that same point is that if you're in a Rolls Royce, its so quiet, smooth, and heavy that it could have 1,200hp and still not "feel" that fast.

This thread is old enough though that I think we're just yelling at clouds now
