Am I correct in the opinion that oiled fabric air filters show very little gain on a chassis dyno and very little in real world driiving? Don

I avoid because the oil tends to get onto airflow sensors and gum them up. No real gain that I have seen either.

On a stock vehicle you will see little to no gains from the oiled type of filters. Where they do shine is on modified vehicles where a stock filter may become a restriction. I will say that after I installed my Tapout carbon fiber air lid ( oversized) along with oiled green filters I saw a 3 psi gain in boost. Conservatively, I think you will see about 15hp per # of boost. So…. That’s about a 45+ hp gain. With a tune you will see more gains.

The oiled filters are better in dusty regions. I never found them to be a pain to clean. Rinse with fast water spray , blow it dry with compressed air and re-oil and done.

I ran a Green panel filter in my 2017 ZL1 for years and now run one in my 5BW. I think horsepower gains with an aftermarket panel filter (oiled or dry) is negligible but I do believe they improve throttle response slightly over the paper OEM filter.

I think the issue of oil getting on the MAF sensor is a bit overblown. You'd have to have the oil dripping off the filter to get any slung onto the MAF sensor.

I do agree that cleaning an oiled filter can be a PIA.
