Hi all,

I’m sure you all have seen that Z’s can be had a a DEEP discount.

Does anybody on this thread have one? If so, any thoughts?

I've had 2 350Zs. No experience in regard to the 370Z or the 400Z.

I sold a 2003 350Z (ordered in 2002) to get the 4BW. I like the new Z, but it lacks many things I now need. The main thing is 4 seats. There are many nice things that the 4BW has as well (easier to get into, MRC, etc.). I do wish the 4BW was lighter. I loved the nimbleness of the 350Z. I can't comment much on the new Z.

The new one I loved during the test drive but within 15 minutes I wanted to get out of there. It is SMALL. I am 6" 2 so idk if I am the best source here but I felt very cramped.

100%. Saturday, my wife and I visited our local Nissan dealer to look at a used car for our daughter. While we awaited our guy, I saw a Z in the showroom and sat in it. Manual, so I rolled through the gears. Much softer sensation than our Tremecs. Anyways, the guy walks up and says "You can have that car at 10k off". Car stickered at 60k and was a beautiful concrete gray color, with a blue-ish interior.

Sticker minus 10K? Which dealer?

McDonald Nissan, c470 & K. Castillo Pkwy. They also had one of the higher models, not sure what it is called. Nismo maybe? Salesguy said it is auto only. It did have cool Recaro seats. But the one in the showroom would be my choice as it was manual.

The Z has a special place in my heart! So many mods, wheels, and my first manual.

$38k is a good deal for a base Z if you want a 2 door sports car.

I think they look great and with discounts it becomes quite the car for the money. The Nismo Z is the one to get according to most journalist however it's a no go for most as it's automatic only.

I would reach out to Nismo Nick Scherr on Facebook. He is the 'Z' King and moves a ton of units that are heavily discounted.

I couldn't find any pics of my 35th Anniversary Coupe but, here are some pics

of my Roadster with a color matched Veilside kit and Rays Track wheels:

I had a 2009 Nismo Z. Great chassis, but boring engine. Had I kept it, would have gone Fast Intentions twin turbo kit.

I’ve not driven one but I do think it’s a sharp looking car and watched and read a couple of reviews. Unfortunately it was not very well reviewed by some of the automotive journalists I tend to trust. Car & Driver only gave it a 6.5/10 (our Blackwings got a 10/10) and Savagegeese did a review of it on the track and I think it suffers from gas starvation(?) causing it to lose power under hard cornering and acceleration. At $40K it does seem enticing but it seems to have its flaws.

Yes, the 350 and 370Z had gas starvation issues too, as the fuel pump pickup is on the side of the tank. Al low gas levels, in a turn the gas sloshes to one side and boom, no gas. People and vendors came up with fixes for it though.

LOL...I'm with you on the 4BW weight (but handles it well when pushed)..I've always thought the Z cars (300 and up) were too porky for what they were thus never had any interest. But I've come around a bit...they look great and MT...and everything else (but maybe Lotus & Miata) have caught up weight wise.

Still I think I prefer the Supra (not having driven either)...but I imagine they cost quite a bit more. If you enjoy the drive and aren't too cramped I'd say go for it...just curious though (for the price) ever thought about a used Caymen?

Weight is relative to time because today most people would die for a 3,200lbs sports car.

At steep discounts they are a nice buy, but you also have to like the car. I think they look neat and I like the interior styling (triple gauge pod). With discounts they are a tempting buy and unique (I think they only sold 2000 of them last year?) they are as rare as Blackwing.

I'd want an exhaust if I ever bought one, those turbo 6's don't sound good.

Never drove one.

Stupid move by them not to offer a stick in the Nismo version.
Agreed. Not worth the "performance" gain on track when you alienate all the buyers who want the higher-spec version with a good ol' 6MT.

I drove a 400 Z Proto Spec edition a few months ago. Only had 580 miles. Original owner had his name etched into the Nissan-provided "ownership plaque" but apparently missed a payment and the car got repo'd...

Car was quite nice. 400hp felt decently quick, even with a passenger on a hot day. 6MT shifted smoothly, maybe a bit balky. Sound was nothing special, but it is a modern turbo V6 after all.

I thought about it, but my concern is how hard it will be to find parts, OEM or aftermarket, for these cars as time passes. They are just so rare now, some 2-3 years after release, I can't imagine owners will suddenly find themselves drowning in parts availability.
