New Lyriq-V review

Not sure if this is just lifted from the Cadillac website or an actual review?
Doesn't feel like an actual review as there are no driving impressions, states mostly facts and adds a few spins easily pulled from whatever GM shared. MotorAuthority dropped a similar release as well: 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V debuts with 615 hp for $79,990

This article mentions upgraded seats... it would be cool if they were our tier 2, tier 3 options

I have to admit the styling is rather bad-ass. At almost 6000 pounds you better budget for tires. I imagine this sucker will eat them up pretty quick.

Caddy is billing it as the quickest Caddy ever. It may be faster than the BW but shouldn't they just leave that little detail off the top of the page? It does look nice too. The EV part is a deal breaker for me.

I don't think they've allowed independent drives yet. Reasonable EV SUV that is quick when put in V-Max mode, but nothing earth shattering in the EV realm. 3.3 0-60 can be achieved by a bunch of EV's.

I actually just leased its platform-mate, the Acura ZDX with a paltry 490 horsepower.

They're basically giving them away for absurdly cheap.

It's surprisingly quick and serves perfectly for commuter duty. This would be an interesting upgrade path in a couple of years when my lease is up.

Not a review. Just a rehash of the press release Caddy dropped today announcing production.

Already on the list for one with Dustin. Gonna be the wife's daily and our first EV.

What deal did you get on the ZDX?

24 months/10k miles, one-pay $7,000.
Wow, guess you don't have to pay tax in NJ? In TX, you can have to pay 6.25% sales tax on the entire purchase price of the vehicle even for a lease.

That's a great deal for 2 years to beat around in a nice EV SUV.

It's half the normal NJ tax for EVs (so 3.325%), but only on the lease cost itself.

The car is cool. Honda/Acura folks hate it because it's a badge swapped GM, but it's just fine for me. Hell, I was ready to pay more for an Equinox or Blazer EV just to eat the commute miles.

Looks great and great deal again! I like the 3.325% on the lease cost itself. That is fair.

If my wife ever needs to get out of her Model Y (family hauler/beater), I'd look at something like this.

Congrats again!

Only 10,000 miles per year is a no go for me. Need AT LEAST 15,000. However, I do love 2-year leases, allows me to change vehicles more often!

Yep, Tesla Plaid S runs 0-60 in about 1.9 sec. Don

Yeah, I have a '24 S Plaid and it's a punch to the stomach at WOT. Like my wife and kids go "My tummy hurts" after a few second full-throttle blast. :D

That said 3.3 isn't anything to sneeze at. It's in the upper half of EV speed for sure. Very fast for a luxury SUV too. Imagine smoking an X5M, GLE63S, Supercharged V8 Range Rover, etc. without even having to try hard in a Lyriq-V.

Yeah, but what is the cost for miles over the 20,000? Let's say it's 30 cents/mile, another 10k miles is $3k. Not chump change, but it's also another 10,000 miles. Also, if you need and negotiate extra miles when you are working the deal at the front end, you can normally 'buy' them for pretty cheap.

I've been in the EV world for almost 5 years so I might be ahead of the curve in terms of caring about 0-60 giggles and big HP numbers. I'm all about efficiency with the electrons on board and range. With a 285 mile advertised range, you can count on barely 200 miles in real world driving. The Lyric is a middling if not fair looking electric SUV that is competing in a crowded field including the Lucid Gravity at the same price point, same 0-60, and an EPA certified 450 mile range (probably 380-400 real world). When you're competing for finite charging resources and time, that extra range is EVERYTHING. EV's are a great appliance, love running errands and day trips, but for me, EV's will never be an enthusiast option.

I did the same, but leased a Mustang Mach E Rally. It was just shy of 30% off after discounts/rebates and I think they subsidized the lease further from that. I’m a stay at home dad and it’s perfect for the 30-60 miles I do a day running around town etc.

It is very quick (3.3 0-60) and fun since it puts most of the power to the rear in Rally mode. Great for bringing my kid to soccer/hockey etc. I just put 4 33 inch Tacoma wheel/tire set in the back (with seats folded down of course).

It’s probably the best winter car I’ve ever had. It came with Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires and the cabin warms up much better than an ICE vehicles on cold days. The big con is the range. During cold days here I wouldn’t go over 120 miles so I’d never have an electric car for my only or main DD. Also, the electronics/software are kind of wonky, which is what I’ve read about both Ford and GM vehicles. But, it works great for the mission we use it for.

TL/DR, I’m definitely not what you’d consider your typical electric car guy. But, they are great for certain use cases, especially as said when manufacturers can’t sell them and are giving them away. Good time to try one.
