V-Series Cadillac(s)?
2014 CTS-V
Hey everyone. Newbie to this site but not other V site(s).

Considering replacing my 2014 V with a 2024 5V Blackwing and was hoping some owners could chime in with advice and answers to the following:
  • Other than the front fascia and interior/dash changes, anything major changed/fixed on the 25s that was an issue or to look out for on the 24s?
  • Any suggestions for stock size (or speedo adjusted close sized) winter tires? I plan to drive it all year round just I've done with my current V.
  • From what I've read the base level seats are actually the most comfortable and suitable for everything but track driving. I like the visual of the upgraded seats but what, if anything, am I really giving up for a daily driver with the base model seats?
  • How hard is it to change out the side and rear badging? If I ordered one to build, I was getting the blacked out badges but this car has the standard ones. Curious how difficult it is to remove from the sides and upper rear of the trunk or if it's all just stick on? I know the front and rear main emblems are work but didn't know about the rest. Not a dealer breaker, just curious.
  • Anything else I don't know that I don't know but should about the 24 model years? :)
Appreciate any answers and advice!

25s also do the “headlight dance” when you approach the car and also have an omega symbol on the front camera assembly, signifying it’s the last version of the car. 25s also have the optional precision package available, which imo is a must have. It perfects the handling and steering response. The PDR in the 25 is also highly upgraded from previous versions. It’s made in conjunction with Cosworth. If u ever track ur car, this and the precision package are pretty much must haves. If you have the money, I would 100% get a 2025.

There are like only 1-2 winter tires available for the stock rim setup. Ur options are very limited currently, but they do exist.

Na, the semi-aniline highest level seats are definitely the best for every driving scenario. The people who are saying the base seats are better are just taking a heavy dose of copium becuase they either couldn’t afford the highest level seats or didn’t spec em for whatever reason and secretly regret it. The base seats are softer, but the highest ones aren’t overly firm. They’re still soft and supple, but provide much better support and are made from way better materials. If driving for anymore that 30 minutes, the base seats would end up hurting your back from lack of support and from just being too cushy. The SAs look incredible in gray and even the tan accented one is sweet if you get the new typhoon green exterior color. Plus the carbon fiber backing looks incredible. The highest seats are almost a must have for most people. After sitting in all 3 at a dealership, I would not accept anything other than the semi-anilines. As a daily driver seat, the semi-anilines are also still the best option imo. Like I said, people who say the base seats are the best are simply coping with their crappy decision or lack of funds. The SAs are definitely not just good for the track as those base seat lovers will say. They still massage, heat up and are ventilated and they’re alot softer than they look, but still provide ample support to every part of ur body. They adjust like 22 ways.

Changing out the badging is as easy as any other car. Just need some heat, floss, and a solvent to remove the leftover adhesive residue. But there’s also an option to get black emblems dealer installed for like $295. I opted for those and would recommend for u to as well if u want black emblems. The Cadillac oem installed ones are way better than aftermarket ones you get from savage Cadillac and stuff.

Don’t get a 24. 25 or bust for sure, unless you really don’t like the front fascia. Imo, it looks better. More refined, slightly less aggressive. It gives you even more of a sleeper look; drawing less attention to yourself for when you wanna be a hoonigan.

Appreciate the info, thank you! It's going to be my daily driver and probably never see a track but still good to know. I'm looking at a fairly heavily discounted 24 and deciding if it's worth it or if I should wait. If I order a new model I'll definitely order as desired but this one has what it has so I was curious how much it'd take to swap the small things like the badging. (Didn't know if there's holes behind or just 3m glued on) The front end really doesn't bother me either way. If anything, I think I like the 24 front a little better for the exact reason you mentioned, it's a bit more aggressive looking on an otherwise less aggressive looking car. The seats and anything missing I didn't know are my biggest concerns.

I like the mid level seats. I much prefer the diamond stitch and you still get the better seat. IMO the 2025 interior revision is well worth the premium and makes the interior way more modern. Ceramic brakes and precision packaging are a great upgrade but I am not sure it is worth it on a daily at 9k for ceramics and 18k for the precision packaging. Most of the upgrades from the precision package would need an alignment that is completely different than what you would use on a daily driver to take advantage of anything the precision package actually offers. The R compound tires in the precision package definitely aren't daily driver material although you can opt for the normal tires. If it were me the interior and the new dash layout would be the deciding factor of whether or not the premium difference between a 24 that's heavily discounted or a 25 is worth it. In general when a model is gets updated, the older models depreciated a much faster pace as we've seen in the used market with any of the 5BWs.

Agree on the precision pack. If I were tracking it, definitely. Also agree on the redesign but that's part of why the 24 is discounted so heavily. It's one of the few dealers who realizes it vs others still asking at/near sticker for 24s which is nuts. Just wasn't sure how much the new dash REALLY was better. It certainly looks more modern but functionally speaking, I didn't know. I have the recaro upgraded seats on my current V so that's the other hesitation I have about the 24, it's got base seats. At the end of the day though, I'm not driving long distances and it's about the drivability for me. I just want to enjoy the car daily. That said, it's still a BIG chunk of coin to upgrade even with the savings on a 24.

That’s actually the problem for me. I see the 5BW as a throwback to days long gone. Also why I insisted on no sunroof. The MY22-24 dash is more consistent with that theme. - Has more of a cockpit feel. You stated you won’t be driving long distances, in that case the dash functionality won’t make any difference. Get the CF backed SA seats and CCBs (especially because you’re not tracking). In 2 years I don’t even know what brake dust is.

On one hand the techie in me loves all the little upgrades in the display, but then I think how much it would distract me from where my eyes aught to be. I don't know how people with the new Escalade don't get IMMEDIATELY into a head-on collision with the car-wide screen and another full size monitor in the center console. It's all just too much for a country that's already highly distracted behind the wheel. I guess I'm officially old now. 👴

I had a AMG with the widescreen and all sorts of tech including multi-color pulsating LED lighting all over the place. It was fascinating, I could get a strip club mood going in the car. Don’t miss all that stuff, but I do miss the 64 led array steerable headlights. Practical stuff matters. If I’m driving properly I don’t have time to be fiddling with all that other stuff.

Odd question, do the headlights in the Blackwings follow the steering wheel like with my CTS-V? Really like that useful feature.
