It's really hard to call the CT5-V blackwing underrated. If anything its the 4 which is actually underrated and overshadowed while being better than every other sport sedan bar its older brother.

I wonder what the sales numbers are for the 4BW vs the 5BW? My feeling is most people will tend towards the 5BW. If this is the case, the 4BW will probable appreciate in value in the long run over the 5BW bc of rarity -- especially a 6MT.

Nah, CT4 blackwing values will mirror ATS-V values in the long run IMO.

CT4 will not appreciate more than a 5BW. They make similar amounts every year and one has a V8. Pretty obvious manual 5BW's will retain more value longterm.

Sales numbers don't matter if the car is lacking something to make it special. In this case that something is a V8.

A lot incorrect information in that article. Typical nowadays as everything that hits the internet isn't vetted. This guy is an automobile journalist.....umm, OK!

I think that the sales numbers are in the same ballpark - roughly 2K of each (more or less) each year)/ The fact that the 4 is less expensive makes it more available to some regardless of the extra panache of the 5.

I don't dispute the fact that the 5 is more special...that it is special in a way that the 4 isn't (Supercharged V-8 & power and performance #s)....however they certainly share characteristics that make them more similar then different and are differentiated by their superb chassis, MT option, and handling prowess (for what they are) as compared to most other cars in their categories.

While I could have easily afforded a 5 V BW (paid cash for the 4) I never considered it. Its just not my car (as good as it is and as great a car it would be to own and drive). The 4 is even a little heavy and large for my tastes...but more in line with what I prefer to drive.

Performance wise its plenty good enough and while not quite at the 5 level (I get that) its high performance in its own right and for me....it being somewhat more light and nimble...the tradeoffs vs the extra oomph (and V8 growls) lose out to the factors where I prefer the 4. Being somewhat more affordable is certainly a factor as well and I'm not at all concerned WRT resale - as with most all my cars I will be driving it for 20 years+ (If I live that long)...

To be honest, I would have wanted more straight line speed from the 4. It's capable of more. My tunned 25% ethanol ATSV was all that I would have wanted in that department. Now that I am in the 4bw, I will get back on that horse when the warranty expires. Without the crazy to me cost of the 5 and other compromises of that car. The 5 is special, no doubt, but the 4 is a better match for my needs. It will never hold value anywhere close to that of the 5.

Agreed. You may want to look into the larger MAF option from Tapout as well as their (or other) ported throttle bodys. Without a tune they claim 70+ HP gain to the wheels and I have to say from experience it delivers. Its enough to keep me satisfied for a while...and like you said....down the road perhaps some tuning and bolt ons are in order....but for now she cooks pretty good.

I saw an article today about the fact that a Camaro won the Daytona 500 even though it's out of production. My first thought was that they should run a Cadillac Blackwing body but it looks like someone else thought of that months ago. Here's a rendering of a CT5-V NASCAR:

Here’s What The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Would Look Like In NASCAR

It appears that the last time a Cadillac raced in the Cup Series was in 1955.

Bit of a struggle for Tedward. Not just driving, but knowing everything he is trying to talk about.

I was thinking the same thing. On a long course like VIR, it should have been much more than 1.5s improvement.
In fairness to Cadillac, it IS faster but I guess it's up to buyers if it's worth the $18k premium (and I agree with you - everything I've read made it sound like it was going to be 10 seconds faster around the track ). I do think it's great that the CT-5 BW can behave itself well but I also think its high expectations to consider a 4000+ pound car a track weapon. After watching this and everything else I could about the Precision Pack it seems like maybe the biggest benefit is "feeling" if you prefer a tighter, smaller driving, "big" car.
