So GM has decided it's going to have be a software company that's going toe to toe with Apple, Tesla on UI/UX. All I can say is... best of luck guys!
That's exactly what management at Ford and GM think - the Ford CEO in particular talks about how they don't have the skills to make EVs. In my mind, an EV is an IC car with a simpler powertrain. Suspension, interior, driving dynamics, manufacturing, sales, parts support, etc are the same. NVH is easier to do.

What Ford and GM don't know how to do are OTA software updates and UX - consumer facing software. GM can sure as hell do the software that runs the actual car as the magride suspension and PTM stability and traction control are the best in the business. And the software running the LT4 and the 10 speed transmission clearly gets the job done too.

The other skill they may be lacking is securing minerals from Congo, China, et al.

They clearly have the skills to make world-class cars, but management doesn't think that will make money. Instead they think they're going to make their money on subscription services or who knows what else and the cars are just a vessel for software you'll happily pay for for the rest of your life through subscription fees. Or they want your in-vehicle data so they can either sell it to advertisers or big data AI / machine learning

Seems automakers have decided that one of the only differentiators in the coming world of electric appliance pod cars is going to be the software experience. Powertrain and performance are likely to be pretty much identical for every low to midrange car.

Interesting points.

I copied y'all's posts to the EV Old Farts thread.

I think it's been shared that Miles of MilesPerHr bought a 5BW, his first new car. I just saw his Instagram post about why he bought it and it is... very flattering!

This was also posted today. Hard to find any review of either BW that isn't absolutely gushing with enthusiasm.

This is probably the closest I've seen to truly impartial so far.

My Cadillac dealer literally had a M3C bought and driven over to trade in after a couple days. I checked it out and sat in it what joke! Funny what short sighted Americans deem as quality.....I will take my cheap plastic what do the BMW guys call it "Upscale Malibu" interior over your horsechit riding car with zero thought into the overall driving characteristics. Even worse they end up paying 30% more for higher costs of ownership because they get a water bottle upon entering the lot.

Hey, my dealer had Fruity Pebbles and Froot Loops breakfast bars on offer this afternoon! (For those following another thread, this is the same dealer asking $202k for a 5BW Anniversary).

The best thing the public can do is make sure to never pay that price and make the dealership feel the pain of holding it!

There needs to be a cumpilation video but instead of porn stars getting jizzed on it's just reviewers orgasming from behind the wheel of the Blackwing.

And keep some Alcantara cleaner handy for the steering wheel.

I’ve never seen this dude before but he seems kind of annoying. The owner is cute though, so it was bearable. Looks like she blew a plug too and her cats are filling with gas and oil?

I recall Doug DeMuro was pretty "meh" on the 4
He kept comparing it to the M3, never appeared to do any kind of spirited driving, and never once mentioned the shifter or commented on the shifting feel. IMO Doug can consume a satchel of richards. Anyone who actually knows anything about driving is falling all over themselves about *both* Blackwings, as they should.

I purposely skip his reviews. There are better reviewers to choose from.

If you want to learn how a car drives, choose someone other than Doug. If you want to learn about "quirks and features".... also choose someone else, because Doug frequently gets that shit wrong too.
