I think a lot of people just don’t care or don’t want to spend time finding or working a deal. The article says Jeep Wranglers are 20% markup but go on a Jeep forum and pretty much everyone is paying at or below MSRP. Smart buyers join a forum and can save a good amount of money through becoming educated.
