Hey all,

Soon I will be done with the Goat Rodeo (hopefully) and I am starting to think about transport options. I had to use an out of state dealer due to allocations and no markup over MSRP. I have thought about driving the Blackwing home, but after 18 months in the Goat Rodeo and my recent experiences traveling on the interstate I just can't bring myself to do it. In the words of Cameron Frye, "It could get wrecked, stolen, scratched, breathed on wrong, a pigeon could shit on it.....who knows?" The dealer is about 950 miles away from me.

So it sounds like the dealer has a preferred transport broker, but due to logistic issues they have the customer set up transport. What have you folks done? What have your experiences been? Any advice would be appreciated.

Wrapped my front with Tracwrap and drove it 6.5 hours home. Worked great!

For the cost of enclosed shipping, you may be able to ppf the front and drive it back. I just drove mine back 1700 miles last week.
That is an idea.

Car would be in Dallas. Does anyone have any recommendations for a shop there? I would actually like to PPF the entire vehicle.

What about break in period? Might have to be disciplined to keep it under 4K on the Interstate.

Are you getting it from Sewell? I had their 3rd party shop do my PPF. It was a little pricey, but they did a pretty good job, and it was ready to drive when I got there which was nice.

I just got on and off the freeway a bunch to vary the speed, shifted gears a lot, and took a wandering route. It's very very easy to stay under 4k in the ct5 bw. It makes a mountain of power down low.

Yep, from Sewell.

Decisions, decisions. Anyone have any clue what the enclosed transport would run? Ballpark?

I did a brief quote to California (further than you), and the replies I got were a little under $2k. I spent far more on the PPF, but driving it back was an amazing experience.

I used certified auto shippers (recommended by a friend who owns a Volvo dealer and uses them often). Process went perfect. $1,600 for ~1,000 miles Philadelphia to Tampa area. Driver texted me constantly with updates, sent pictures, only napped once and it took slightly over 24 hours. Try Kathy@certifiedautoshippers 503.985.6161

You now have to be very careful with hiring shippers. There are many stories out there now, where a shipping broker was used to hire the lowest bidder to get their expensive cars shipped. The truck arrives and the owner hands over the keys and the vehicle is never seen again. Only use a reputable shipping company and not a third party . One guy had his Rolls Royce stolen and discovered it is now in Mexico and he can't do a thing about it.🤬

If you drive it home don't just set it on cruise control for long periods:

That's for CT4, but I expect CT5 is similar.

Similar but different. One of the kids lost their ipad about two years ago. Over the weekend its location popped up on our map, in China!

Dustin will hook you up. Not his first goat rodeo.
