Finally getting to step up into a Blackwing. I originally was looking at a CT4 Blackwing but decided that a small car payment with a CT5 is worth it over the CT4 (and hopefully keeps some sort of value). Anyways, I sold my Manual Jungle Green Chevy SS and got my deposit set on my Blackwing! It's a Certified 2023 Black Raven Auto, Supercruise 2, CCBs, Semi Aniline w/ Carbon Backs, PDR, Parking and Driver packages, Graphite wheels, red belts and all weather floor mats. Basically the only option missing is a sunroof (SS had one and I never opened it) and CF Packages (not sure possible with Supercruise). Should be delivered by Monday!

Congrats!! Sounds like a very nice build! Post photos when you get it.

You miss the SS?

You miss the SS?
I know I will but I have had around 5 SSs over the past 10 years so it was time for a change. I had a Ute mixed in there as well. But I will always have an SS as I will never sell my forever project

LOL, not everyone has one of those in the garage. (y)

I certainly don't miss mine. It was a great car, but the 5BW M6 is way more inline with my view of a super saloon.
Besides the obvious big improvements such as interior, power and suspension, what else do you like better over the SS? Just curious as I had a SS 5 years ago or so. Does the CT5 drive smaller? The SS always felt a bit big for me and it’s roughly the same dimensions as the 5.

The Alpha II chassis feels more athletic and well sorted, but you still feel the mass, all the masses.

The SS deserved a more special engine. The LS3 can be made into a screamer, but I'm not much into modding my cars and 415hp felt like it was nothing more than adequate. The LSA or LS7 would have been more at home. The orphan status is likely the biggest motivator to sell when I did...oh and those crazy valuations in 2021-22. I paid MSRP (ordered at local dealer) in 2016 and got that back in 2021 with 30k miles on. It was silver, M6, no sunroof and was the perfect appetizer to the 5BW.

So the BW5 feels heavier than the SS did? I told mine with 3300 miles and it was Orange Blast Metallic before the pandemic. I should have held it a couple more years. That said, yes, it always felt like the chassis could handle way more power.

I wouldn't say heavier, but not lighter either. Its hard to describe with words, but the 5BW feels quite nimble but you also feel the weight when you push it on track. I guess the engineers did a good job masking the 4,000lbs curb weight.
