I have about 3800 miles on my 4BW manual. I've noticed when I do full throttle runs through the gears that the fuel cutoff sometimes engages a little below 6000 RPM. This does not happen every time I run through the gears, and there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when or why it happens. As an example, I did a hard run through 2nd and 3rd today merging onto the freeway. The car pulled all the way to redline in 2nd, but in third the fuel cutoff engaged about 5800 rpm. I've had this happen in first, second, and third gears seemingly at random. The car runs great -- it's just really annoying.

Has anyone else run into this issue? I'm planning on doing track days starting this winter, and I would like to get this sorted prior to hitting the track.

Were all the driving assists (TC, stability control) on?

There's a particularly slick stretch of road I drive on everyday and have had this happen to me when I go full throttle on it with everything on. It aggressively tries to prevent any wheel spin. I've had it cut fuel around 6k as well. However, when I enable PTM sport or higher, it'll happily go to redline and allow for wheel spin. I've attended 6 track events so far and have had no issues with the car cutting power or preventing me from going to redline when in PTM sport, race 1, or race 2.

Should be fine on track but you can always give the PTM modes a try on the street just to make sure.

Yes, all the driving assists were on. I haven't really played with any of the PTM modes, and I drive around in Tour or My Mode 98% of the time, so I'll definitely look into that. That makes perfect sense.

Also, if you touch the clutch it will cut ignition, I had a habit of just putting a touch of pressure on the clutch in anticipation of shifting and sometimes it was enough to cut the ignition making it feel like a fuel cut or rev limiter.

It turns out that was the problem. I was just barely touching the clutch just like you described. Thanks!
