CT4-V Frustration with build quality

Cadillac CT4-V model
I wish I could report something different, but I'm at the mercy of GM who don't want to give authorization for a new trans yet. Maybe once he cracks the case they will change their minds, but it sounds like not before.

You are not at their mercy. You can and should insist on a complete replacement. They should not be rebuilding the transmission at the dealer's shop. The should install a new unit and they positively do that. I would absolutely not accept a shop based internal part replacement.

Replacing the whole transmission might be done to reduce service department complexity, but a big reason is GM doesn't know what other damage or alignment issues might be there with an internal part that needs replacing. The only safe way for GM to know the repair will not have other issues is to replace the entire assembly.

I'd ask for the credentials of the tech doing the work. They may sub it out to a local transmission shop as well, but for a new car under a luxury moniker, I'm less than thrilled on your behalf. This isn't a Chevy Cruze.

Do the "certified V" techs even learn how to rebuild our trans?

I wouldn't imagine most dealerships mess with it. The cost in labor to do the work is probably more than a new unit at wholesale.

Transmission rebuilding is a specialty skill in the automotive industry. It's not impossible but, I'd think unlikely.

Little update for those who might wonder. Dealership has ordered a left side turbo and the synchros for 2nd gear. Parts are on backorder, with no ETA.
Mine makes the same chirp noise. Honestly, I've read it's nothing but a nuisance and not really an issue if you can live with it. Is this still true or is there a true mechanical reason to replace it?

I imagine one could live with it, as it doesn't seem to have any performance issues, but I don't want to. It's sad having such a nice car making such a ridiculous sound.

I agree. My concern is knowing some of these dealers service areas are hacks, I don't want to trade one problem for another. Seems like invasive surgery to replace it?

I couldn't get the video to play (they block a lot of things at work) so I didn't hear it, but I wonder if perhaps it's the blow-off valve?

Unfortunately it's not the BOV, it's a loud chirping on throttle tip in for a split second
