I had my wife’s windshield replaced last week in her F-Pace. After asking the dealer to get me a quote multiple times with no response, I just called Safelite and had them come to my house. I didn’t even ask if it was OEM glass because it’s a lease and I’m leaning towards returning it next month: It wasn’t Jaguar branded glass but it was Pilkington which is close enough for me.
Good luck Seth! What a hassle.
Safelite will use OEM glass if you tell them to. They will just make you wait to get it.Wow, that's tough...I've had a bad chip/crack in mine I have been hesitant to get replaced because my insurance wants me to use Safelite. I guess I should start the process so maybe I can get glass by summer lol
More worried about the skill of the individual installer than them using oem glass as I’ll make sure they use that…..They scratched the dash on my Camaro during a replacement after sending their “best guy” to do the job. Not sure I could keep myself composed if something similar happened to the BW due to carelessness.Safelite will use OEM glass if you tell them to. They will just make you wait to get it.
Tried aftermarket glass on my Camaro with HUD and it did in fact distort the image. I’d recommend against that for sureYeah I don't necessarily mind non-OEM, and they can have that in next week, but the lady at the local windshield place told me it "might" make my HUD "a little bit blurry" - I donno. Sounds like a bad idea. LOL.
My windshield got cracked driving from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, last June. Took about a week for the dealer to get a new one but then they cracked it on installation, lol! Took another week or so to get a new one. Went with the OEM obviously and the recalibration. I believe it was a little over $1000. If you go with one of the aftermarket products, you can save a couple hundred dollars.Wow, that's tough...I've had a bad chip/crack in mine I have been hesitant to get replaced because my insurance wants me to use Safelite. Ouch!I'm still waiting for my windshield to get replaced. They ordered the windshield and so far, has not come in. Now I'm scheduled for 2/16 to be replaced. It sucks driving around with this cracked but I'm not breaking out my BW5 because it doesn't go out in the rain. Clearplex couldn't save my windshield from this.
I think I remember watching a Chris Fix video for this kind of thing. The DIY kits out there seem to work reasonably well. I don't remember any brand, though.A rock chip the first week of ownership but at least it’s near the corner. Would you recommend taking it somewhere to get fixed or trying to do it myself? Any product or kit recommendations?

Wow. That must be frustrating. There is a slight crack so probably will spread eventually.Hopefully that little piece directly above the impact site isn't already a crack or else it maybe pointless to try to repair.
Good luck on the repairs cause trying to get a replacement currently seems impossible. I've had a replacement windshield request in since January, and Safelite is still telling me no ETA currently.
