Where do I begin....
First of all, losing your sanity in the throes of the rodeo is all part of the fun. Trust me; I'm told I'm a "doctor." Secondly, y'all are spot on insofar as I have to be previously and immutably insane to be a psychoanalyst. My job is deeply weird.
Anyway, I have about 150 miles now and some small developments to report: In terms of fit and finish, I still haven't noticed egregious errors, panel gaps, uneven paint, electronic gremlins etc. However, I have noticed the first idiosyncrasy of my car--and maybe all 4BWs--in which in the 5th or 6th gear hum/drone seems to produce a tiny, dash rattle. I can't quite tell where yet or if consistent. I will report back. Tedious, yes. Go to dealership to tear apart and find, no.
Otherwise, I have gotten deeper into the pedal and still am awed by the torque. I can only imagine revving this thing past four grand for lonnnggggg 2nd-gear pulls.
My footwork has improved slightly, though I am still using rev match on cold starts to really keep the break-in healthy and safe. I turn it off when in-temp.
The no compromise, jack of all trades (master of some in this case) still feels true. With passengers I can drive in touring mode and keep everything very smooth and well-damped. My V-mode includes track exhaust (with soft suspension) much to the chagrin of neighbors, my wife as well as tacit admiration from teenagers at Chipotle. I'm what you call a Cool Dad.
I wish I could be driving more but work and home life has taken a busier turn, albeit constructively. As long as the weather permits, I'll drive any chance I get.
I look forward to hearing how other lost souls make out this month. Also hope to meet some locals after the holiday season, especially when some cars and coffee and shows open up.
Anyone need a session/consultation in the wake of the rodeo, I'll guarantee the friends & family discount.
I'll be lurking...no matter what you do....@Rob
