Took delivery of a Wave Metallic Blue 4BW on 2/28. At delivery I found that someone scuffed both front splitter pieces. Dealer did not mention it and I would not have seen it but for my wife noting during our first look at a Blackwing that the front was very low. I tell them I won’t take it unless they replace the parts. They confirm the parts are in stock and will be there the following week. I ask for a nice key chain and some all weather mats for the annoyance of the damage. No key chain. But they reluctantly order the mats. I paid MSRP but I guess that’s not good enough for a key chain these days. Fire up car and notice loud hiss from ac but figure it just needs to warm up. And it was cold out. Get her home and notice both tail lights have stains and crazing on the inside of them, fasteners in front of wheel wells are corroded and pitted, and muffler welds are really rusty. Dealer does not call me back end of following week about splitter pieces. I have to call them, sales guy says parts will call - no after sale care. I email the general manager given the number of emails from him and corporate about my experience. Take car in to inspect entire undercarriage. Bottom of front struts have rust on them right around the edge of each. Mind you I never had it in wet salt. A bit of salt dust on the road but I washed it that day including underneath. AC had no refrigerant-wtf? Refilled today but they are keeping it to see if there is a leak. Got build sheet and the car sat in MI for 5.5 months- was produced on 8/29/22.

I haven’t bought an American car in years and this experience it testing my patience.

Take pictures of everything. Test everything at delivery. Make them put it up on a lift. They lie about the pdi. They don’t care about you or your money.

Yup, splitter damage is someone's fault and good thing you caught before taking delivery or you'd be out of luck. Exhaust rust doesn't look unusual for a car that's been around for 6 months before delivery - good chance the undercarriage got wet before the car was parked for a long period. The corrosion on the bolt looks interesting. Probably white because it's aluminum but did you see if it rubs off like salt??

It rubs off but fastener is pitted. Here is pic of strut on BW on dealers showroom floor. Mine has a bit of rust on both struts right along the bottom painted edge. (Pics now attached.) Not the unpainted slotted cap. For comparison, here is a pic the muffler on my 2017 M2 which has 60k on it. Very sure they got salt on my BW and never cleaned it off. That’s just no QC.

Hope your dealership man's up to address your issues. Have seen moisture staining on several 4's. Try searching that thread here. Splitter damage really sucks but fortunately you caught it.
You still have purchased an amazing vehicle, give it a chance to prove that point. Think big picture. Best of luck going forward.

Very wise advice. I will heed it. Waiting to hear whether my AC has a leak or not. 10:19AM and no word yet.

That's just a byproduct of being old.

Dealer has recharged the system and added dye. They cannot identify any leaks. I'll take that as a good thing, but at the same time it makes me wonder why it was low/empty from the factory. We shall see . . . . I will keep you all updated. Fasteners being replaced today, but still waiting on one of two taillights to come in.

Does anyone know why this car was temporarily unavailable on the website? I attached a picture of that above. It had that headlights recall, which I had to sign off on at delivery. It was stuck in MI for a long time.

My car was 4D00 for three months after being built. The assumption is that there were missing parts but who knows really? Fact is most of these cars sat for long periods of time before delivery.

Added pics of my struts above. I power washed before these pictures (low pressure) but still a lot of salt staining under there compared to showroom car. Should I be concerned about the rust already on the struts?

Service manager convinced me that replacing rusted struts is the way to go. Not a hard item to replace. He is ordering new ones and is have the entire underside of the car detailed.

Update: dealer ordered 2 new taillights. They now tell me that gm changed the mounts and they didn’t have clips they needed so they had to order them and they need to keep my car. I was like just put the old ones back in but they waited until 5pm to tell me and the tech left of course. Strange thing is that when I inspected the two tail lights for the glue staining and crazing I noticed one had bolts attached and other didn’t. I mentioned it to the parts guy and we was like you probably just didn’t see them on the other one. He had already packed the other one back up. I didn’t bother asking him to show me the other one again. I figured they would just use the bolts from the old ones. Changed the mounting of the tail lights? Really? Anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

Yet more frustration - tail light clips did't come in and the service manager was telling me a different story from the service advisor. Service manager tells me there is no difference in the two new tail lights but just needed new clips. It appears that GM changed suppliers on the tail lights - probably because of the glue staining on the inside that I and other had - and the new supplier is using narrower mounting bolts. Of course GM sent one of each. I told my service manager no dice - matching tail lights like it came from the factory. I made him order 2 more and I will make them keep ordering until they get two that match. But of course they can't even reinstall the old ones because there are some one time clips which they don't have even for the original tail lights (which worked fine of course) so now they are going to have my car at least until Monday!

As for the Service Instrument Cluster warning the sole option presented was replacement. The code is in the history file but they have no fix. I again said no dice - I don't want you taking the trim apart - something will break and something will rattle when you are done. Others have had this after I posted about with no additional problems, so I'd rather wait. He said he's ordering one just in case, to which I responded, knock yourself out, that's up to you.

I did get them to detail the entire underside of the car to try and remove all the salt staining I was unable to wash off. They apparently had two detailers under there for two hours. It came out well in the video they sent me, but the tech who took the video made some snarky remark like "good luck keeping it this way".

After all this BS, I talked to the General Manager also today. He said he has been following this saga (but called with the Service Manger so he probably just got the download) - manufacturing defects including AC with no freon, glue-stained/crazed tail lights, and instrument cluster fault code, along with poor care after manufacturing, including damaged front splitters, rusted front struts, pitted fasteners, calls from Service at minutes before 5pm after all the techs leave, and a damaged owners manual (which I hadn't complained about before, but I'd had enough). I basically asked the General Manager what he was are going to do to make me happy. Short answer was get everything fixed and then he will talk to corporate. I am beginning to hate GM/Cadillac, and I'm not too keen on this dealer right now. Seems like lots of bad decisions and a lack of foresight and problem solving skills - e.g., why wouldn't you order all the clips when you order the tail lights???
