On my Genesis GV80, when cleaning the windshield, I can put the wipers into Service Position after turning off the vehicle. Does the 4/5BW have this feature? I've been turning on the wipers & then timing it to turn off the vehicle to get the wipers in mid-wipe. I also hate that I can't pick up the px-side wiper blade more than 1" off the glass. Am I doing something wrong?

I washed mine for the first time Saturday and also realized you cannot pull them away from the windshield where the stick straight out - like every other car I've had. They seemed to pivot a little bit, but then wouldn't go further.

Is there a trick to getting them to swing out so you can easily clean behind them ?

I have a 4BW and both arms can pivot up fully in the park position. I also have a 3-day subscription to the service manual and am pulling down everything on the 4BW I think I might possibly need. I checked the wiper information there, and then I checked out information for the 5BW. They both read the same as far as replacing the wiper blade which is the time you pivot up the arm. It just says pivot up the arm, replace the blade, and pivot back. No mention of any repositioning needed.

Windshield Wiper Arm
Note: Do not lock wiper arm away from the windshield without a wiper blade installed on the arm.
Procedure
Lift the windshield wiper arm off the windshield to the service-up position.

Windshield Wiper Blade
Procedure
  1. Using a suitable tool, release the windshield wiper blade retaining clip.
  2. While holding the wiper arm, pull gently downward on the wiper blade to remove the wiper blade from the wiper arm.

Thanks -- The above works with the driver's side wiper. But the px side wiper arm is recessed beneath the hood so cannot be moved off the glass more than an inch.

I suspect it's done the old fashioned way. Turn on the wipers and when they reach the midway point shut off the vehicle.

^^^^ That's what I've been doing. But I thought there was a better way, ala, my Genesis GV80. (See the linked vid from my original post.)

I typically turn the car on, turn on the wipers, turn the car off when wipers are about 45-degrees up (does take some finesse to time it right.) Haven't had an issue lifting blades for replacement.

I saw that I couldn't raise my wipers for cleaning the windshield or for when its going to snow, on my 2022 Kia Telluride. The wipers would hit the hood edge. I then discovered that there is a way to "electronically" stop the wipers half way on the Telluride. I will have to check and see what the procedure is for the BW. Your post just reminded me of this issue.

Don’t forget to put padding down on the windshield when replacing blades. One slip and the arm crashing down on glass doesn’t bode well.
