CT5-V 2025 CT5 Blackwings - have your dealer check oil plug on the front of the engine (Service Bulletin attached)

CT5-V Model
For those of us that have a 2025 CT5 V Blackwing, it is very advisable to have your car taken to your dealership and have this oil plug checked. I was lucky enough to purchase one in the middle of January and read about the plug issue last week. I too live in the Phoenix area where this problem was reported so I made an appointment and stopped driving the car until I could get it looked at. The mileage had just turned 500. The car sat for a week and the 50 mile drive to the dealership was a little nerve racking. I could not stop looking at the instrument cluster, waiting to see the oil light come on, however it did not.
When the dealer inspected the plug, it was installed incorrectly and was then properly seated. So the really smart thing to do would be to have yours checked. GM issued the problem on March 6th but has to date not notified anybody who might own one. I was told by the technician that the CT5V Blackwing has a very expensive engine in it, so not checking a $2 plug could end up costing GM a new engine , rear tires from oil damage and many other possible effects on your car.

Would be really good to get some pics of these unseated plugs.
Back on page two we have a picture of a correctly seated plug. So if you get under the car and it DOESN'T look like that- Houston you have a problem.

Update: They were able to get an oil pan shipped and it got delivered yesterday, they are working on installing that now and they fixed the suspension. I’ve been told I’m gonna have it either tomorrow or Thursday 🥳🥳

Picked up my 25BW on 3/29 and made it about 94 miles and the low oil pressure light came on. I was in a subdivision so was under 30 mph but could smell it so I immediately turned her off and coasted to stop. Spent quite a while trying to figure out/research the situation and stumbled along this thread, very much appreciated everyone!! 🙏🏼
I educated the dealer, referenced the TSB mentioned in here and contacted the GM executive office. To be continued….

I went in for an oil change after ticking over 500 miles and had this checked. It needed to be fixed.

Unfortunately, the dealer also managed to scratch up my fender and hood while they were at it, so that's fun.

Glad the plug didn’t uncork on you beforehand! Did you get the dealership to acknowledge fault for the scratches at least? I’d be pretty unhappy if that happened. I saw a video posted of a guys PDR recording the tech at the dealership scraping the shit out of his CF splitter. I immediately ordered a dash/rear cam so I can record when I take it in for service anywhere. It beats walking around the car taking pictures.

That sucks man, sorry to hear that for you. Careless techs and dealerships really should be held accountable. I hope they make you whole on that! I guess the silver lining is your girl didn’t puke all her oil on the side of the road and leave you stranded at least.

Good call….I’m def snagging one of these. Looking to get slim and super low profile so any recommendations here are always welcome and appreciated 🙏🏼

A quick story on dealerships being held accountable: I repeatedly told the service department at the Nissan dealership to be careful of my Brembo calipers when removing the wheels. You guessed it. They replaced all 4. Rather than eat it for their own negligence, they replaced them on warranty making corporate eat the expense. 🤦🏻‍♂️

So has Cadillac actually contacted those who took ownership of 25s before this was discovered? Or are they just waiting for the owners to find themselves on the side on the road with oil everywhere, searching for answers (this thread)?

As far as I know, just a TSB out currently but I’d imagine a recall may follow. Def a terrible way for me to uncover the issue but thankful for this thread or I’d be unwinding the deal on my 25 rn.

GM was aware of this problem on March 6, 2025. While the dealerships should have the proper repair process, Cadillac has not as of yet, sent out any recalls to 2025 Cadillac owners. Sounds like a really dumb idea to not inform owners of a 100K plus car that a plug might fall out and damage the engine along with many more parts of the car, tires, brakes, etc. Plus the personal madness towards GM by them not informing one of their customers that this should be checked, instead of waiting to have the plug fall out and drain all the oil from you engine onto your driveway, your friends driveway or some other location.

So, a manufacturer will not self-report to fix this.......consumers can go to this site ad file a complaint....but given the cuts to agencies under Trump, who knows if it'll be processed...that's NOT being political, just a fact.

A few years ago, the Ducati 1299 Panigale had a very badly designed oil cooler line.....it would loosen up due to vibrations and crack and leak oil, causing many crashes. A few people on the forum reported the issue and within a month or so, the feds made them do an actual recall to fix it. not just a TSB.

So I suggest anyone that had the leak and lost oil, fill it the form...ALL of it. then send it in.
